      Hull City v Liverpool Tuesday 28th April K.O. 7.45PM
      Apr 27, 2015 08:50:55 pm

This game has come that quick after the West Brom fixture that I think we've all almost forgot about it!

But another game is upon us and an opportunity to try and put the memory of the semi final and a disappointing draw on Saturday to bed.

We have a good record against Hull with 13 wins, 5 draws and only 1 defeat in competitive fixtures. That defeat coming at Hull in December 2013.

They are fighting for their lives though and every point is vital to them, possibly more so than us as 4th place is all but gone so a relatively easy fixture on paper has maybe slightly more significance than on other occasions. With Hull sitting only apoint above the relegation zone and 5 games left to play any home game will be one they hope to get something from and with our recent form they may well feel an upset is possible.

For Brendan and our side with only 4 points taken from a possible 12 we should see this as an opportunity to get 3 points and push as hard as we can to finish as high up the table as possible and with seven clean sheets in the last eight away games there is every chance we have enough to win this one.

      TEAM NEWS

Hull City duo Mohamed Diame and Andy Robertson could return following respective knee and ankle problems.

However, David Meyler completes a ban, while Nikica Jelavic, Curtis Davies and Robert Snodgrass remain injured.

Liverpool will assess full-back Alberto Moreno, who missed the draw at West Brom because of a knock.

The Reds are unsure if injured striker Daniel Sturridge will play again this season, while Mamadou Sakho and Lucas Leiva are also ruled out of this game.

Firstly, well done to everyone who's boycotting this game. Hopefully this will hurt Hull City the only place modern football seems to matter...the bank account!

Clubs are taking the piss and hopefully will start to realise that genuine football fans wont stand for it any longer!

      Secondly, just win Redmen!

I fully expect to see Gerrard and Johnson starting the match and then everybody wondering what's gone wrong at the end of the match.

Hull are fighting for survival our bottlers cant wait for the season to end.

Sorry for the negativity but that Villa performance after the Manc loss is still doing my head in.

To be fair, the available options are a bit sh*t, aren't they?

-Bench Gerrard, move Can into midfield and play whom at the back in Emre's place, Toure? Manquillo?
      -Bench Gerrard and start Allen?
      -Bench Johnson and start Enrique?
      -Bench Johnson and start Manquillo?
-Bench Johnson, play 3 at the back, and have Lallana or Markovic at WB?

I'd rate it slightly more likely than winning the lottery. Just.

I don't know, you might win the lottery. There's no chance United will drop points in two games of their 4 games and we win out  :P

All of my friends who normally go are boycotting the game....I was offered tickets at the West Brom game on sat, I refused of course.

Worried about this match if I'm honest, although I did take some satisfaction from our second half performance on Saturday, we just need to be quicker to the ball and stop being sloppy with our passes.

So true. He's a very cringeworthy individual. I remember him wanking himself off silly in front of the press when he caught a replay of Rooney's goal against West Ham last season, moaning 'Wow, Wazza, wow'. And as Si said I'm sure his head gets bigger every year. Not long before you'll be able to see it from the moon.

The guy's football is anaemic, pus filled bollocks as well. The sort of lowest common denominator football that has been the crux of England's footballing problems.

Tickets for the match at the KC Stadium are £50, with a £2 reduction by Liverpool as part of the Premier League’s away fans initiative.

For the same game last season, tickets were £35, an increase of 31%, while ere charged just £Stoke fans w16 for their Hull trip in August.

Probably a lot of the normal away's will boycott.
But then you will get others wanting to boost away credits and take them up.

We couldn't get everyone doing anything about H&G let alone something like this that could help them apply down the line

It's confused me how against this idea he has become since last season. A formation that worked very well for us has been abandoned. It'd certainly make more sense than starting 0 strikers in a game and having 3 on the bench.

Fairly optimistic about this one altough the options are very limited. We should be grand at the back with Couts doing magics as a false striker, flanked by Sterling and Ibe. 3:0 to the redmen.

Just remember these Hull players are fighting for thier survival, every point counts for them to stay up, this won't be easy, esp. as we are not scoring goals at the mo.

But I do think if we can get an early goal we should go and win.

Hoping for a better game from Gerrard, he is now a couple of games into match fitness.

      Sad stats :-(

•Liverpool have taken only four points from the last 12 available.
•They have kept a clean sheet in seven of their last eight Premier League away games.
•Their tally of 14 top-flight clean sheets is bettered only by Chelsea, who have recorded 15 this season.
•Steven Gerrard has scored four goals in six Premier League matches against Hull City.
•Mario Balotelli has failed to score in all but one of his 15 Premier League appearances for the Reds despite attempting 59 shots (including blocked efforts).

Hope the boycott is successful but as others have mentioned its an opportunity to purchase tickets and boost credits.

I really hope we smash these tonight. We need to batter somebody 5 or 6 nil and boost our confidence and get going again. Would love Hull to go down too, I cant stand Steve Bruce and that gigantic enormous head of his. There is just no need for the size of that head at all.

Don't play Gerrard because he's off the pace massively. Get Can in midfield next to Henderson and get ready to battle a team of dogs fighting for survival. Bring in Lallana to play alongside Coutinho to suppot Balo in attack. Ibe and Sterling on the flanks.

Back 3 of Skrtel, Lovren and Lambert.

He's slowly expanding.. Maybe that Hull owner is going to eventually write Hull Tigers f**k you on his back and float him above the KC like a blimp

      HAHA. No worries man.

I do have dislike for Bruce as well. Would be really nice to do them and put a dent in thier survival hopes, esp. after them charging our fans more for tickets.

That just about sums up my feelings about the guy. Complete and utter dogturd you can't scrape from the bottom off your shoes. I remember when Fergie was playing his mind games against Rafa, a bunch of tossers led by this utter pr1ck were quick to throw their support behind the massive c**t not because they believed it but just so they can get in line to suck Fergie's shrivelled piece. I think Martinez was the only manager who got behind Rafa and said he was a gentleman who always respected opponents.

I want to win all the time, but to get one over this pr1ck and to condemn Hull, the shithouse to a relegation would be sweet.

Fairly optimistic about this one altough the options are very limited. We should be grand at the back with Couts doing magics as a false striker, flanked by Sterling and Ibe. 3:0 to the redmen.

Well I totally disagree with you about playing no recognised striker and would rather we have a go.

Win tonight, burst fat heads ego, and send Hull City tumbling towards the championship. Where at least they will receive a parachute payment for being relegated if money  is all the club is worried about. Well done to fans boycotting the game over high pricing of tickets.

It's confused me how against this idea he has become since last season. A formation that worked very well for us has been abandoned. It'd certainly make more sense than starting 0 strikers in a game and having 3 on the bench.

I agree it's been bizarre.  If none of your current strikers are world class then surely it's got to give the opposing central defenders something more to think about if there are two of them.

You'd think the one up top strategy has had us rattling in goals.

And when I say two strikers I don't mean two wingers or midfielders thrown up front for shits and giggles.

I've been thinking again about the line up and what we have available and a return to the back three might be a good move for us.

      Mignolet

      Can Skrtel Lovren

      Ibe Henderson Allen Markovic

      Coutinho

      Sterling Borini

I don't see the sense in Brendan starting Balotelli again as he clearly doesn't rate him and won't even slightly play to his strengths. It'll be bizarre if he picks him again and expects a different result without changeing how we play.

      I'm thinking this:

We need goals if we're going to win this game, so we need people on who can score. Balotelli might rise some eyebrows but my thinking is that he's excellent at holding the ball up and you then have Coutinho supplying balls and making runs alongside Ibe, Sterling running in to the final third, pulling defenders all over the place with (the hope) that Borini can find the space to put the ball in the back of the net. It gives us movement upfront that we've been lacking for several weeks. I'd sooner loose this game trying to win it than grind out another boring 0-0. Let's show some intent.

I like it and its where I'm coming from as well.

We need a win and it would be better to lose trying to win than play out another draw.

The primary aim of a formation is to provide a structure which gets your best players on the pitch performing roles that suit their skill-set. There are valid arguments for using two strikers but as a general rule of thumb; if we don't have one good striker, its not surprising that we are reticent to play two.

Didnt we play the same set-up against Newcastle couple weeks ago, created a lot in front of goal?

Think this is going to be totally diferrent game to WBA. They were happy with a point while Hull will simply have to go for a win, opening up space for our fast inside forwards. Not the type of game for Balotelli Im afraid, and Borini looks rusty as ever.

Sure Id start with Sturridge-Suarez combo up top but as they´re not available its not the best idea playing any of our fit recognised strikers just for the sake of having one in there, imo.

Please don't start Balotelli up front on his own.

We have a chance so long as we don't repeat this tactic. Either give him a partner or don't play him.

      I'd prefer the latter.

I'd set up like we did against Newcastle with Coutinho in the false 9. Why we haven't repeated this tactic in any of the games since is beyond me. We haven't won one since then.

We have a chance to get back into Champions League qualification contention here, a chance we don't deserve but it is there. I don't give a F**k about our formation, just pick the right team to do the job. No F***ing about, no pandering, players picked on merit and players who are prepared to battle hard against a team that are fighting for survival. They will come out fighting and you can bet your bottom dollar that Elephant Head will be doing all he can to stop us catching his bum chums former side and denting their hopes of Champions League.

Games like this are rarely won by skill, they are won by working harder than your opponent. This game is all about fight.

Quite nervous for this one, they'll be bang up for it and the win at the weekend will have given them some much needed confidence.

Mignolet; Can, Skrtel, Lovren; Ibe, Henderson, Allen, Markovic; Coutinho; Balotelli, Sterling.

Push Raheem right up there alongside Balotelli and see if we can create something because let's be honest playing one up top the last few weeks has just been grim.
