Kid just signed a new two year deal. I haven't seen much of him, saw some highlights from a game the other day. Doesn't look like he'd be much of a dropoff from Brad Jones  :f_tongueincheek:

He's apparently saved a penalty for Swindon today, great confidence booster for the lad if it's true.

He was superb against us in preseason. Hope he can keep developing.

He's blown his loan deal at Swindon...

Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has Swindon loan spell cut short after paying £50 fine in pennies

Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has been sent back from a loan spell at Swindon Town after turning up late for training and then paying his £50 fine in pennies.

The 21-year-old signed for Liverpool from Tottenham last year and had been doing well for League One Swindon after being sent out by Brendan Rodgers to gain experience on a season’s loan.

However, after turning up late for training last week, Vigouroux was told he would be fined £150.

Senior players had the fine reduced to £50 in a bid to help the young Chilean, but Sportsmail understands he then turned up to pay with bank bags full of pennies.

Swindon manager Cooper is already working with a small squad and is keen to ensure that discipline is maintained. Manager Mark Cooper would only confirm: ‘It’s an internal disciplinary matter. It’s come from me and the rest of the players.’ Asked if it would cause further issues, he added: ‘It won’t, it’s been dealt with.’

Vigouroux eventually paid the original fine of £150 — this time in notes.

He was dropped to the bench for last Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to Colchester and replaced by Ty Belford who, as their only senior goalkeeper, is likely to start at Doncaster tonight.

Struggling Swindon have slipped to 17th and their striker Wes Thomas has been ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury.

I thought he was English? :O

Is it really such a bad thing? If he was being deliberately cuntish, then maybe aye, but he still turned up with the money, no matter what kind of coins he brought, it was still £50. Bank would have taken it no matter what form it was in. ;D

Not really something to cancel a loan over. Unless his attitude has been poor anyway.

I get that Vigouroux should have acted a bit more professionally, but that's hilarious.

I don't think it's anything to cancel a loan over but it would irritate me a little if a professional footballer came to me with a load of copper to pay a fine that the player could pay with spare notes in his wallet. With the way some clubs are these days it's best to act professional at all times and it seems he may have been a bit of a dick after being fined.

      SWINDON LOANEE BACK

Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has returned to League One side Swindon Town on loan after apologising for paying a fine with 5,000 one pence pieces.

The 21-year-old had been sent back to Anfield on Monday after he used the coins to pay his fine for turning up late to training.

Vigouroux has played nine games for Swindon after joining them on a season-long loan and could now be picked for Saturday's game at Blackpool.
