He really does mate, and as you rightly point out and a fair few posters also mentioned it in the match thread 'he works his arse off',I've always believed that you need a grafter in your side someone who does the spade work & jimmy Milner gives us that 100% & he ain't bad at taking pens either,so your comparison too kuyt is spot on.
Must admit I was made up when we signed him & thought it was a very shrewd signing & a he is brilliant pro.

Me too, I can’t believe people doubt his quality. He’s F***ing brilliant.

Superb. I have so much admiration for James Milner as an athlete, a professional, a leader. He offers us so much in many different ways. I don't care whether he's a starter or not, I do love having him in the squad though. He's a real soldier, fighting the good cause for the mighty reds.

You can't possibly dislike Milner even if he has a bad game, you just know he'll ran his socks off and give everything out there.

Brilliant performance. Gutted that decision went against him and us. Looked like the ref was waiting to give a pen. Blew his whistle before the ball touched the ground. 😡😡😡

Thing is I’ve no f***in idea how he’s meant to not handle that shot.

I wonder if he’s given it because he reckoned it’d have gone in otherwise - even if accidental.

I’ve seen refs do that before where they determine in heat of moment that an unfair advantage was gained although no intent. That’s not the rules of the game but it does happen.

Very good player, both defensively and offensively. He has driven us offensively when nothing is happening, through shear effort sometimes.

The ref was looking to give a penalty I think, there was nothing Milner could do. It was kicked straight at him, his hands weren’t up in the air, they were by his side. Personally think even if it had just hit him on the top of his leg the ref would have given a penalty.
