I'm strangely excited about this, I didn't want him last summer but he played excellent when I watched city last season, hopefully his work rate will drag others into line.

If he's been promised a centre mid role as some are worried about then it's all subject to change. ;D

      1+1 actually equals 2.

      Simple Maths.

Congrats BR for a good signing.

We signed a winner. Very happy with this signing and really hoping he's one of many top players coming in this summer :D

Would love to see a 4213 formation with him and Hendo fighting for that central spot next to a solid DM.

He's here because he's free. We wouldn't bring him here if he costs more. But then again no one will know except our investor owners.

He wasn't free, he cost approx. 8m. Money well spent though IMO.

Lad can't take a transfer in isolation and assess it. Doom and gloom is an understatement.

I think if he follows the trend of other 'senior' players we've brought in over the years Mcallister, Bellamy etc then he will do well for us. A bit of experience in the side is something we could do with at the moment, someone with a bit of passion to drive others on now that both Luis and Stevie have gone, I think he could provide that.

Just to check since most people are happy with this signing, is this because of the 'sh*t transfer committee and FSG who know nothing about football and don't involve Brendan' or what they all are, a joint decision between owners through the TC and manger ( much like everywhere else).

Always the doom and gloom folk who only see the negatives.

Transfers don't always go right at every club, would be intersted to a stat, but I bet its 50/50 in terms of success at all clubs.

Doom and Gloom? I think it's a very good signing. Point is its the same TC that signed him which is used as a shield to protect Brendan. My opinion is that he is fully involved in the actual decision to say yes or no to any player, and has bought in to the overall strategy.

I'm happy because we got a player that is a good player, hard working, stays out of trouble, injury free, fills a need with experience, proven winner, valued playing time over money (took less with us than Man City offered) and has leadership ability. He also doesn't need time to adapt to the league and should hit the ground running. Add to that he comes on a free transfer, somewhat breaks the old FSG mold of only signing young with potential and I'm actually starting to be over the moon. Had this signing been made by Klopp, people would be rubbing themselves in delight.

Milner is a pretty good signing for us. There's really nothing negative you can say about it. Ridiculous fitness, tireless worker, durable, can play a bunch of positions (and can play them well), and a much better footballer than people give him credit for. Good signing all the way around.

Yea, Doom & gloom, the folk that basically slag every signing we do.

This signing is very good IMO.

Decent player - always fancied him as a left back as does BR.

Can also play in goal so that's our back up GK sorted as well.
      False GK you say?

I did. And I agree BR is involved in every descision. Im not one of the folk who have been slagging the Committe, apart from maybe the Balo deal, but I actual think that was just a panic buy after all otehrs failed.

      James McManus @JamesMcManus1
James Milner created more chances than Juan Mata this season, recorded more assists than Mesut Ozil & scored more goals than Cesc Fabregas.

And that was in limited minutes.

Potential midfield diamond for next season:

              Can.

      Milner.    Henderson.

           Coutinho.

Solid ball winner and playmaker at the back in Can.
Two workhorses in front of him, who in my opinion can both spot and play killer balls from deep.
And the creative, flair player in front of them.
Looks pretty good if you ask me!

Of course this formation is fairly reliant on decent full backs providing the width. That'll need addressing then!
