Has there ever been such a highly publicized search for assistant coaches?

this whole situation is just so bizarre.

I don't think I can even name any assistant coaches at other clubs.  Maybe Brian Kidd at City.  but that's about it.

if the assistant coaches are so important why is there not a huge uproar at other clubs about what assistant coaches they hire?

why are we going through all of this just to find a f**king assistant coach?!

are FSG really so delusional that they think we were so sh*te last season because of.... the assistant coaches?!!?

sh*t travels down from the top.

Monchi is the guy who has shaped Sevilla over the last decade or so and regarded as one of the best football operators in Europe.

Rene worked for the mancs. He isn't a manc.

Pretty god damn perfect if I must say so myself. It's important that Brendan challenges himself working alongside these characters. The best are able to incorporate such innovative and independent thinkers and I believe Pako and Meulensyeen are that. At the same time it raises his authority. I suspect going with or overruling a decision made by Pako or Meulensteen is worth far more than doing the same with Marsh and Pascoe.  I guess that's what makes Mourinho and Ferguson so successful - they were happy to work with and feed off the thoughts and actions of some very intelligent men....and in te case of Jose himself one of those men was Brendan himself.

Something like that could be the saving if Brendan.

One thing I will say about him, and I've always maintained this, is that I truly believe that he feels honoured to be our manager. He loves being Liverpool manager.

I think that maybe, just maybe, he loves it enough to change how he works and work with guys who are regarded as the best coaches around.

Interesting, how you've concluded Colin Pascoe is the root of all our ills; you are John Henry, and I claim 5 pound.

Never said he was the root of all our ills, jumping to conclusions again without digesting all the facts. What i did say is that he was a F***ing useless assistant manager who should never have got the job in the first place. You need a strong right hand man to run a Club of this size, Pascoe never was and never would have been capable of doing the job. When you look around at all the potential candidates he wouldn't even be in the top fifty.

He's gone for a reason and it isn't because he was good at his job.

The problem is I have no real faith in FSG hiring those best coaches around.

      I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm absolutely certain about that and I really believe he feels he is incredibly fortunate to be in this position and that's a big reason why I still believe he is the man for the job. Of course this summer could be the making or breaking of his career here but he deserves the chance.

Rene is an excellent coach but hes a tit. The fact hes full of himself, spouting sh*te about the Mancs since his departure prety much disqualifies him being even interviewed for the job at Liverpool Football Club. Dont want classless people anywhere near LFC.

Maybe what we need is a few 'tits' with a winning mentality though.

Were far too nice as a club in almost every area.

No offense mate but I think that would be a disaster.

Kenny has no experience as a DoF and has admitted a few times he didn't like that side of the game when he was manager. Always credits the work Peter Robinson and Damien Comolli did on that side.

Tommo and Sammy are good but are they the best we can get?

I think the game has moved on from the likes of Tommo but maybe Sammy could do a job on the coaching staff.

Being romantic mate but I think they still could do a decent job, especially domestically plus Sammy & Thommo have that European coaching experience which was obviously missing.

Maybe that could be a reason why MM & CP were shown the door for lack of European experience?, domestically they were part of a package that finished 2nd.

The main problem with your line up mate, although I still wouldn't appoint Sammy or Thommo, is Kenny.

He isn't or never will be a DoF. It just isn't him.

I'd love him to be Honorary President or something similar though.

boots and kit on... still getting involved even in his sixties... amazing!!

he needs a bigger postion in the club, even if that is just a regal title and does little towards coaching!!

"Director of all thats great at LFC"... maybe?  :D

Sami woud accept an assistant role at LFC so i think its a good fit for Brendan... others may want the top job!!
