Once Studge is back I can se that team against the lesser teams but against our Top 4 rivals I can't help think we need a more disciplined DM going to a 433.

One thing I have noticed on the forums (especially since Rodgers took over) is how underrated a defensive midfield specialist is.

I've got serious brain strain trying to come up with a well balanced X1, so many options , from a original back 4, or a back 3, depending on fitness and the oppo.....

Ings needs to show more than he did yesterday if he's to guarantee himself a starting birth. He was outshone quite comfortably by Origi.

Just been looking at the squad numbers on the offal and it seems strange that we have no number 1, 5 or 8. Thought Bogdan would have taken 1 and possibly Sakho changing to 5.

Agree, though to his (Ings) defence, the second half XI behind Origi was a lot closer to our strongest team than the one that started the match.

I disagree, they both had good chances and were denied, although Origi did put it right with that thumper of a header. Ings impressed me with his technical ability and his ability to get off a quick shot.

Only going off of what I saw yesterday, I would actually put Ings slightly ahead of Origi.

That's just my opinion.

We do have a lot of options in midfield now, very good to see. My preffered would be

Obviously Studge for Ings when fit. Preferably another top striker as well.

Bench would be Bogdan, Gomez, Allen, Lucas, Lallana, Markovic, Origi...good depth so far. Desperate for a striker though.

I did not want him. But Ive recently decided he is proven EPL player, young and hungry, and miles better than some we have. And if its really who BR wants then, let's get behind him & club.

Pretty much the starting 11 for me apart from Enrique who I doubt we'll see play for us again since he's been left out of the tour to pursue his career as a professional instagrammer. I'd probably change the formation a little too.

Swap out Studge for Ings when fit.

If we don't buy a good striker and a CM we don't have a chance to get near the top 4.

Ings leading our line in Sturridge's absence, while the mancs have Rooney, citeh Aguero, Chelsea Diego Costa and Arsenal Giroud/Alexis.

I can see Can being benched for the opening game if he doesn't get the minutes required in the friendlies. That wont be the end of the world or anything, though I'm sure we'll have plenty of fans not understanding the simple concept of match fitness and attempting to rip the manager a new one. But anyone should be able to see we have fitter more experienced options in front of him. If Lucas, Milner, Henderson and Allen are all fit and looking good they are all ahead of Can for a starting position and really that's how it should be. Let's not put immense pressure on guys born in the mid 90s just yet!!!!
