Same guy who grabbed Suarez package a year ago, trying to get him sent off. Luis punched him in the face but ref didnt see him.

He stole that move off an Aussie Rugby League player :D John Hopoate (known as Hoppa) did it to his opponents and the move is called "the Hoppa"

Luis got a cob on 'cos the ref only gave a hand-ball for the first contact.

Yet they slaughter Suarez for biting. Personally I think Jara has taken it to a whole new level.

That's hardly new. People are too sensitive about what happens on a football field. It was much worse when there were no (or few) cameras.

In one of my 11 a side games last season an opponent went round doing this to some of our lads on corners, free kicks and what not. He decided to do it to a lad on our team who doesn't take kindly to stuff like this and he got dropped to the floor. Players should be careful what they do on a pitch because anything can happen.

Mainz furious with Jara after Cavani incident: “If an offer comes in, he can go.”
Gonzalo Jara was given a 2-year contract from Mainz in 2014, but his unsavory incident with Edinson Cavani at the Copa America could end his stay with the Bundesliga club.

Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel lashed out at Jara’s antics — he jabbed his finger into the rear of Cavani’s shorts and then dove to the ground when the Uruguayan slapped him — and said his club is ready to sell the defender.

Jara appeared in 17 games for Mainz last season after spending five seasons in England with West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion.

      From Sky Sports:

Mainz’ sporting director Christian Heidel told Bild: “We do not tolerate that. What makes me more angry than the prod, however, is what happens after. There is nothing I hate more than theatrics.

“He knows that if an offer comes in, he can go.”

Jara has previous history provoking players after appearing to grab Luis Suarez below the waist in 2013 and attempting to prod Gonzalo Higuain a year earlier.

So, to be clear, the dive is worse to Heidel than the, well, other thing.

While the condemning statement is laudable, it’s also worth noting that Jara was far from a force for Mainz, and this could simply be a quick and easy excuse for Heidel to put a player up for sale.

Either way, the fallout continues for Jara, who is expected to be suspended for the rest of the Copa America on his home soil.

Paolo Guerrero scored a hat-trick last night and Peru have advanced to the semifinals. He's signed for Flamengo just before the Copa America. Can't wait for him to come back to Brazil.

Yep that's the one. He's been at Corinthians for the past few years. Scored the winning goal in Corinthians' world club championship final against Chelsea.

Thoroughly enjoyable half, very feisty. Argentina should've had a pen and probably 1 or 2 up!

You know what, of course Cech was a great signing for Arsenal, but they already had a pretty good keeper in David Ospina. He's supposedly leaving AFC and I wouldn't mind him at LFC at all

He was amazing vs Argentina!! Still think Sergio Romero is a quality keeper and has always impressed when I've seen him for Argentina.

      :lmao:

I sure as hell hope so! But CBF did not sack Mano when he lost to the same Paraguay, also after penalties in the quarter finals in 2011.

But I can only hope... something's got to change. I'm not happy with the situation but I can't bring myself to support the national team while these clowns are in charge.

Awful from brazil, just launching it from the back , without a recognised striker, shapeless, clueless, no pattern of play, awful players like Elias etc

Big credit to Peru for a great effort with 10 men, Chile a bit fortunate to get through, hopefully Argentina will win and set up a cracking final

I've been a bit disappointed with this Copa America. It doesn't seem as entertaining to me as years past.
