Not sure how many care but England v Portugal right now which looks like a good game. Thiago Illori starting for Portugal and Danny Ings on the bench for England.

England start every single tournament at all levels with the most negative tactics I've ever seen. England senior team does it, the young lads do it, the women do it and now the under-21's are doing it. We go all out attack in qualifying yet turn into a bunch of pussies at tournaments.

Just don't get that mentality of the English. Never known a nation so F***ing scared of taking part in big tournaments.

That type of player would've been perfect 4-5 seasons ago to sit along side Gerrard, but for some stupid reason, we never looked into it.

I wouldn't be against Carvahlo coming in, but I still feel with Hendo, Milner and Can lacking in the ball playing department, they need an Alonso, Kroos etc type defensive midfielder.

Mentioned Carvalho in the transfer board seeing if anyone knew anything more about him.

He looks perfect. Sitting deep, beast of a build, always on the move across his midfield and his passing - even off one touch - looks sublime. First time i've seen him play other than a cameo at the WC last year.

Looks absolutely immense that kid (even though he's built like a feckin 40 year old). Bernardo Silva looked the goods, too.

He seems to get linked with a big move to the prem every window for the past couple of years, but a move doesn't materialise.
I've no idea why, because as you say, he looks a proper player.

That's how Rodgers should be playing Coutinho in my opinion, have him follow and demand the ball for the majority of the match, that's how I like my #10's to play rather than being rooted to one side.

I remember him being linked to Arsenal last season for £20m or so. Steal if that is his price.

Carvalho's buyout clause is always reported/rumored to be something like £37m.

£37 m does seem an awful lot, but if he keeps on developing he'll be a F***ing monster of a player at his peak.

Just watched the Brazil v Serbia on the television, Serbia won 2-1 after extra time. The Serbian Keeper had a cracker of a match, don't know what club he plays for but after that display I am sure the big clubs will be knocking on his door. He also won the golden glove for the tournament and deservedly so.

Looks like Can is playing CM with Kimmich probably as the DM. Kimmic looks like a ball playing defensive midfielder from what I've seen last game, so hopefully, we will see Can play as a box-box midfielder!

With Can being good as a CB/RCB, he is surprisingly poor defensively as a midfielder.

A bit unfair on Southgate as he does favour a bit more style than Roy.

Regardless of manager or level I can't ever remember an England team playing with any sort of tempo at all.

Why do you say that? Was he poor in that game?

I like Can but I worry about him being our DM as well - I don't think he's disciplined enough.

Poor as in not defensively disciplined enough I guess. Him and Kimmich both played as CM players and it was mainly Kimmich covering defensively. Though Can improved 2nd half and I felt he was the dominate midfielder.

I'm starting to see what he can offer in the CM role, but I think he really needs to work on his fitness. Personally, I prefer 2 midfielders (1 box-box and 1 dm) and I'm not sure he'll be ahead of Hendo or Milner as of yet, but there is huge potential.

Yeah I'm not sure if he'll begin the season as a starter either. I have much faith in him as a player but he needs more consistency - in terms of passing, discipline and better fitness as well - and will have to fight for his place, especially if we do end up signing Illarramendi.

Is he a regular starter? He reminds me of D.Silva. I think if he carries on playing like how he has done for U21's at club level, I really think he can progress to become one of the best!!! Is he the biggest attacking Portuguese young talent out there at the moment?

Portugal has got really high hopes for him along with a few and a few from the u20 who lost to brazil last week on pens at the world u20 world cup, lot of pundits want them drafted into the Portugal 1st team to get ready for 2016/18.
Portugal is only a small country of 10 million but they seem to produce some quality players, what really pisses me off is that Ronaldo and Quaresma was offered to Liverpool for around 12 to 15 million and  Gérard Houllier turnded them down and 6 month's later manure sign Ronaldo still pisses me off to this day.

      Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

Englands defence trying to play it out when they clearly aren't comfortable. Gibson looks awful both times i've seen him.

It's baffled me how Chambers sits on the bench every game when this Gibson lad plays. Quite a few of these English lads have looked poor. Chalobah, Gibson, Garbutt, Hughes, Ward-Prowse, Moore and Carroll are the ones that have stood out for me for being poor. I wish Garbutt would be taken off free kicks and corners because he clearly can't cross to save his life.

Stones just about gifts another to Italy. Poor awareness from a defender that's meant to be good with the ball.

Kane is so greedy. He's been shooting from ridiculous places in this tournament. He barely ever looks for his teams and even when they're in better positions he shoots into a group of opponents anyway.

Sick at marking you Jenkinson :lmao: This England team is woeful. Would help if Southgate knew how to pick a team though.

Since the hype went into overload two thirds of the way through last season, this lad has done F**k all for The cu*ts and England. He can't handle fame.

Unsurprising to see England under 21s living up to the lofty expectations of the senior side.

      Gareth F***ing Southgate.

Not sure what else could be expected.

Disappointing to hear about Ilori, it seems to me he could be injury prone? Has been start stop for him last couple of seasons out on loan and the reason why he played so little.

As for England, I really don't understand why they didn't play Hughes, he's by far their best ball playing midfielder.

Just read he broke down injured in the warm up for the game. Looks like yet another injury prone player on our books.

Final goes in to extra time. Portugal deserve to win but can't create that one chance to put away whilst Sweden playing very defensive and have created one or two chances to win it.

The right back Esgaio, Joao Mario, Bernardo Silva, William Carvalho and Sergio have all impressed me for Portugal.

lot of big clubs watching Diogo Leite center back, was captain today and 2 goals and his 1st any striker would of been buzzing if they scored it.
