      Quote from Robby The Z
I like international football actually, but the confederations and FIFA have been way too aggressive about creating new events, crowding the calendar with friendlies.

There are just a maximum of 2 friendlies per year for European nations. 8 in the Euro playoffs this week, have only had competitive games.

Joe was very unlucky to get this injury when he did, but he has had long term injuries in the past. He may not have even played the friendly with England. However, he still would be required to attend their training camp and prepare for their 2 competitive games during the coming week.

      Quote from Don77
Knee injury according to James Pearce.

I'm not getting into an argument on klopp should have bought another defender.  But his first act in the market in the window was to sell an experienced centre half ... he chose not to replace him and go with 3 senior centre backs, 2 of whom he knew are made of glass. Fabinho is ok for an emergency 5th choice as we have midfield cover. But he is one of the top holding midfielders in the world. Not buying a centre back not only left us short at the back but also meant we had to weaken our midfield to move fabinho (who is not a centre half)  back. It was madness during the window, madness when the window closed and its still madness now. Its predictably backfired on Jürgen and spectacularly so with losing his mainstay and rock as well.

Matip struggles with 1 game a week  ... if he or Joe are injured nobody really is surprised. Matip won't stay fit. His body won't allow it.

I love Jürgen to bits ... always will. But he got this wrong. I get no pleasure out of that.

Gutted for Joe. Is that 3 serious injurys now plus a broken leg since he signed?  His partnership with VVD is going to be in the rehabilitation centre it seems for the foreseeable future.

Honestly, how many of us were devastated to see Dejan go? Many would have chipped in for his airfare. He's not exactly a stranger to a treatment room either.

We're not the only club with an injury list atm.
Players can't be wrapped up in cotton wool in case they might get injured. Travel is an unavoidable part of this job, at club and international level. In the past month, Kelleher has travelled to Slovakia, Finland, Holland, Italy, Ireland, and Liverpool, back and forth. He must think he's on a European tour rather than a football team, as he's racked up the air miles, but never got on a pitch.

Out of interest which injuries do our rivals have?

City - Fernandinihio and Aguero, not really critical players at the moment as bnoth head towards the end of their careers
Leicester - Not aware of any critical injuries
Chelsea - I assume Pulisic is injured but apart from that, anyone?
Spurs - Not aware of any key injuries
      Man Utd - Who cares

Us - Virgil, Joe (main CB pairing), Trent, Thiago, Fabinho, Ox  - All important and key players to our team so yes injuries are impacting us far more than other teams at this moment.

As much as I think the fixture list is ridiculous and the idea of adding friendlies to this already ridiculous schedule all while in the middle of a world pandemic is beyond any word I can use to describe the level of stupidity, I have to say that this one could've very well happened in club training.

They are reporting nobody was near him when this happened. I am no expert so I can't asses if this is the type of injury that have increased risk of occurring when in the middle of such a ridiculously tight schedule but I'm guessing this is just pure bad luck for us and considering how sh*t our luck has been since this season has started it would've probably happened all the same in LFC training.

They need to allow the 5 subs and just cancel the intl friendlies. Adding travel fatigue on the players and increasing the risks of covid contagion is just stupid. I reckon a friendly or two, or F**k all friendlies will have to do for the national teams. Like Klopp said in his presser after the City game (I am paraphrasing) ''we pushed for the domestic season to played and that's fantastic, but now we are also pushing for the Euros to be played but we have to ask ourselves, at this rate, with which players are they going to be played?''

Not being an arse, but I don't give a F**k where it could have happened, I care about where it did happen.
      It happens constantly with England.
They dismiss the advice of clubs medical teams, do their own F***ing thing, and then players get injured because they haven't had enough recovery time.
It happens time and time again.
They don't give a sh*t about the players or the clubs; they just see players as a cash cow to fill the coffers.

      F**k 'em.
      Greedy wankers.

Leicester have Soyuncu, Ricardo, and Ndidi out who are big players for them but they seen to be coping well. Looks like Fofana might be out for them next week which would be great for us as he's been brilliant for them recently.

Not being a knee (or any other part of the body for that matter) specialist I'll offer no opinion on the injury other than to say get well soon Joe and come back full fit. Don't rush things.

Disappointed for him to pick up this injury not just because it leaves us more thin in the CB position but it would of been a great opportunity for him to step up from VvD shadow and show he is top quality CB who can lead the line.

Thing about that list is every club has their injuries but look at the quality of ours out compared to anyone else’s . Just need to ride it out, hopefully the kids fill in, raise their games and grind out the results. When the players come back in and whoever we buy in January step in, I still can’t see anyone but City giving us too much problems. Could be worse.

Seing that the lad is injured and that there has been much talk about us needing to buy a center-back I was wondering what is the general consensus around Joe?
Is he your long-term VVD partner or would you prefer the club to go another route and recruit a center-back to directly challenge for his position?

Do you consider him injury prone?

Do you feel like he is Jürgen's first choice partner for VVD?

Do you think Fabinho excelling at CB affects any of that?

Those questions came to my mind mainly because some of the names thrown around and the price tags they would command are those of a starting CB (Upamecano or Konate come to mind) while on the other side I feel like Klopp has made it clear in the past year or so that he very much likes Joe and that if everybody is fit (even when Lovren was there) Joe is the other CB.

I think he's a very good CB but he is injury prone, same as Matip and we need another CB to fight for the starting spot next to Virg, Per Schuurs from Ajax would be absolutely perfect.

We don’t need A CB, we need two,we can’t rely on Matip, and we can’t really rely on Joe either, we have two young lads in Rhys & Matt but one is surplus and will likely be sold, that still only leaves us with one reliable shoe in CB, before Virgil got injured, or if you like when Dejan went, we should have strengthened then,

with the amount of games we have to play coupled with the lack of training time, plus the intensity of how we play it’s pivotal that we have to rotate, in short, ideally we need 4 reliable trusty CB’s with back up from the likes of Rhys/ Matt, we have one, Virgil,

Yes we can throw Fabinho in there and he has proven his worth without question but, that leaves us without a proper world class DM, it’s alright saying we will make do short term, but if your facing half a season without 50% of your main defensive line, you need to recruit, asap in my opinion, but whoever is brought in he has to be as good if not better than we have already, and in it for the long haul not to just fill a void.

      Get it Done !

You can't say Joe Gomez is injury prone when you look at how the majority of the big injuries happened (impact)

OK, he's just unlucky then, but either way he misses a lot of games for us!
