Thought Firmino was very good and close to MOTM for me, his work rate is exceptional.
The attack wasn't the problem today, we could have been 3-4 up and had a lot of nice movement and link up play. I think Firmino, Mane and Coutinho has chemistry.
It wasn't the main problem granted but had we have been more clinical then we'd have been out of sight. We haven't scored a goal in open play now for over 180 minutes.
Thing is, most knew Tottenham would give us space by the way they play; their play defensively still hasn't changed all that much since we thumped them 5-0 down at WHL.
Had we a bit of pace and a natural finisher up front with better attacking instincts we would have come back with all three points given the way the team played overall today. It's a defensive attack IMO having Firmino in the '9' role and against a porous side like Spurs who can be opened up (see Vertoghen or whatever his name was sh*t bricks and foul Mane due to his pace!), I think Klopp has again chosen the wrong player to play in that position.
Everyone goes on about the press and Firmino does work hard but that's it, that's his end product and after three games the end product of a '9' is missing in our game - GOALS. If you want a worker up there to close down we may as well throw Henderson or Milner up top. Speaking of Henderson, and by the same token, the posters who thank Firmino as the ducks nuts due to his tireless work rate are the ones who lash out at Henderson being played - he, offers exactly the same in terms of work rate when he plays. Yet, Henderson is lambasted for not orchestrating the midfield better, while Firmino's lack of goal threat and everything offensively this position requires gets glossed over and ignored. Ironic or what.
I think the potential of Mane, Sturridge and Coutinho looks far more superior it terms of winning you a game, rather than harrying for the ball. That movement and link up play you talk would improve more so IMO and we'd have someone in the team who will take the chances more often than not.
