Tend to agree and I'm looking forward to him coming back.

Trent and Gomez are going to be fine footballers but they are still developing and in Trent's case especially I'm not sure fullback will end up being where he plays as he develops.

I think TAA is a better option at full back that Gomez, Gomez has been caught out too many times

Both flawed in the position at this stage.

Gomez gets caught under the ball and Trent in front of it. Some notice more with Gomez because he’s in the tv shot.....

Both are going to be fine players.

Hopefully comes back with a new lease on life.

He was dire before his injury.

Agreed. He has a lot of ground to make up not just fitness wise but, relative to his form at the end of last season, competitively as well.

I think he'll be one out the door. He took so long to get over his back injury and it's high risk of a repeat. As you say, he was not even great before the injury. He was OK, without the injuries it would be okay but on a whole it is not.

Hopefully he gets back to fitness asap as the alternatives are a pale imitation.

Gives you exactly what you need agsinst the top teams, hardly ever beaten in a 1v1, solid in the tackle and experience.

I'd imagine it will be after international break. If he makes the team against Wigan, he'll be in Southgates squad.

Walker & Trippier surely ahead of him?

probably, i don't think clyne has a career anymore here. Klopp won't really tolerate players who take so long to recover. It's took ages.

The results against the top teams last year back up your statement

I thought he was our player of the season in his first season. As for his second, whilst he was good defensively (not as good as his first season imo), his attacking was below average!

What a load of nonsense. So that’s Lallana all done an all then.

Hmm Lallana might not be a great yardstick.

for what it's worth i do believe Lallana is past his best. i mean, surely nobody thinks he's somehow going to pull 40 games out his arse next season? he'll be 30 in a few months. he will be EXCELLENT cover for a few younger, more energetic midfielders in front of him, though. very happy to have a guy like him around.

Clyne though, i doubt he'll ever play for LFC again

It will be good to have Clyne back but I disagree with you saying Trent and Gomez are pale imitations

Both have been overall excellent in my opinion, with the odd mistake or drop off in games or moments here and there but that can be expected with kids.

I reckon 99% of teams would love to have two such great young potential in their squad.

Both will be excellent players, maybe they may move position... Joe into a cb and Trent into midfield but both have such a high ceiling in my opinion we are fortunate to have them

Good to see him back on the bench.

I wouldn't throw him straight in against City though.

Shame he got that niggle so quickly after his come back as it has probably halted his comeback.

Hopefully he is fit for the final on the 26th.

I thought he would have come on much earlier. They were targeting Trent and I don't think he coped too well with it in the second half. Maybe he was just knackered.
