Not once has he spoke out against the club regardless of how left out he was or felt. Solid professional who deserves to get game time somewhere, hopefully it happens at Lazio.

Was a weird signing in the first place. Hardly any La Liga experience at Sevilla, so we buy him after a loan move to Barca B. Strange. At 7m, though, I guess it didn't cost much.

Said it a few times on here the same year we bought him he's then captain at Sevilla - Ivan Rakitic went to Barcelona for 7m. Rodgers decided he was not needed and we had the right long term solution in Joe Allen.

Rakitic would have had us near those top 4 places every year.

Nah, not much; the same as Ilori, Aspas and Charlie Adam in fact.

Slightly off topic but it's quite telling that, in a relatively short period of time [just under 2 years], £7m spent on Alberto is easily written off but at £7m, Charlie Adam was expected to be top class and was castigated along with Kenny, when he wasn't.

A sign us fans have matured I suppose.

Those two years are a big difference, though. BT's £3b TV contract with the Premier League started the season we signed Alberto. The same summer, Ozil went to Arsenal(!) for £42m.
