One thing I’ve noticed with Trent is that he seems to send clearances back over the middle a bit.  Even Robertson did it in the Roma game a few times.

I’m no footie expert but they seem to always say that whenever you clear the ball, it should be away from the middle of the pitch.  Just boot it out.  Whereas our lads seem to kick it straight back in the middle, and often the other team gets it right back and we’re on the back foot again.  Surely that’s something basic they’ve worked on?

I get what you’re saying. Something I’ve noticed is that when he’s facing our goal and got a player chasing him down he will awkwardly try and kick the ball back down field on the turn, done it a couple times yesterday it went straight back to one of their players and they were straight on the attack again. Sometimes you need to just put the ball out for a throw, take the brief few seconds to compose yourself and get yourself into a better position to defend. But he’s young, things will only get better with him, even Messi wasn’t the finished article at 19.

Had a rough one, but that could be expected, he’s 19 facing a hostile crowd in a game where they threw the kitchen sink at us. I feel like he will be ok. Need to have Clyne ready to go though at a moments notice.

We've gotten this far with him as #1 rb and that says a lot about TAA, he's a brilliant player for his age extremely mature for his age lets stick with him. At the end of the day we knew that Roma would give us problems like they did to Barca.

Some interesting debate on whether Clyne could start the final at RB to give us fresh legs coming on in the middle of the park for later in the game. I must admit I am very worried by our lack of CM options when Hendo-Gini-Milner begin to tire and TAA is just about the only other option in there (I don't think Woodburn would get a look in) so it's not the worst shout in the world.

BUT, I think Marcelo will have a hard time with TAA and I don't think Clyne will have the fitness/sharpness to be ready for this one. The kid deserves to start the final, he's been terrific. Also, I want him on any righty free kicks.

Yeah it's a close call either way. I'd like to see Clyne start against Chelsea anyway, maximise him as an option.

No way will Jürgen drop Trent he has been one of our best players regardless of his age and Clyne just doesn't have the game time to get anywhere near a final spot. If he gets fitter and a bit more game time it will be excellent news and all the better for the team overall

The other argument for starting Trent is the long forward passes he's been laying on a plate for Mo and the other forwards lately.  His attacking value from RB may actually be more than that from midfield!
Clyne doesn't offer that. although there's an argument for Clyne replacing TAA as sub should we need to shut up shop and defend a lead (instead of putting Raggy on- which never seems to work).

In the England 23 for the World Cup.

Having a barnstorming end to the season and totally deserved.

Just hope he has another performance like the two Man City ties in Kiev!!

Congratulations to Trent on his selection for the full England squad for the World Cup. Totally deserved and a very level headed young man, who will not let it go to his head.
Let’s hope he plays a blinder in the Champions League Final and goes to the World Cup 20 feet tall!!

Looking at the England squad, it's kinda funny that TAA is probably their most creative player :D

Well deserved call up for the World Cup and whilst I think he is unlikely to start, if Walker plays on the right of a three (as he has for the last couple of games) would you rather have Trippier of TAA in that right wing-back role? Trippier is the more seasoned defender but as an attacking player I'd pick TAA all day long, he's quicker, more mobile and a better crosser of a ball. Plus he can be number 2 on free kicks and takes a decent corner.

He's got a good chance to play. Game of his life against Ronaldo would go a long way towards it!

I can't see him starting, Southgate will opt for Kyle Walker.

Don't forget, they play 3 at the back with Walker being part of that. So it's between him and Trippier for the wing back role!

I was talking to a friend the other day about TAA making the world cup squad as with England playing with wing backs and lack of CB options forcing Walker to play RCB that why wouldn't they take Trent as a option for RWB after the breakout season he has had and glad to see it happen for him.

Amazing news for TAA who has had a terrific season and deserved the call up. However, i will happily have him just enjoy the atmosphere and experience from the bench and not risk any injuries since we are so f**king unlucky with them whenever our boys are on the national team.

I keep giving this lad my MOTM vote because at 19 he just blows me away with his understanding of what jurgen wants from him.
The "experts" said he had a few dodgy games and then he put the future worlds best Sane in his pocket.
I think our two wonderful fullbacks may well score the winning goal in the CL final
