We've already seen the costly errors from Trent either getting beat too easily or abandoning his post and passing the buck onto others to do his dirty work. It happens time after time.

There's absolutely no chance Arne was happy with his performance. the guy is a perfectionist, but what else can he do? We have no Bradley and we have no Gomez....

He is what he is and besides, he's not in the team because of his defensive capabilities.

You don't think that's a dangerous mindset? I can let the guy dribble past me, because last time it happened nothing bad came from it. TBF we don't know that's the mindset from Arne and TAA. I imagine they both have addressed it and will work to make sure it doesn't happen again. Anthony Gordon has a better end product than Doku and he will make you pay for those mistakes. Need Trent to be up for it

Gordon wants to go more direct and cut inside. Trent will have help most times. I'm not too worried about it. Like I said...it came to basically nothing and it really took City out of their normal style of offensive play. I'd wager that Arne may have even told Trent not to worry about him beating him to the endline, just don't allow him to cut inside but no way to know. His offensive game is so important for us I'm not that concerned with his defensive "failings" because neither have Klopp and now Slot obviously.

This is a good watch for anyone interested in the dissection of our tactics defensively and offensively. It's obvious that Slot knew City was going to try Trent and he had Konate make sure to always be there to help so they in essence could bend and not break. It's kind of long, but a really reasonable look at the tactics.

And how many of those resulted in a goal? None, so who F***ing cares?

Can dress it up however you like but it's never good when a fullback gets beat all game like Trent did on Sunday. Got subbed straight after he lazily strolled out to the right side as well towards the end.

If Slot is happy like Klopp was to accept the defensive fraility and adjust the team to cover that area then fair enough as of course he's immensely talented going forward.

For me though I wouldn't be that arsed if he left this summer.

This is pretty much how I saw it watching the match. Not watched the analysis video and only watched MOTD highlights once but my memory is that Doku was ineffective, none of his crosses were threatening.

Imagine claiming Trent had a good game Vs City.

Imagine pretending that because Doku failed to get any assists after leaving Trent behind him that makes Trent getting beaten a record number of times a success.

      Madness.

You can create whatever excuses you like but watching Trent get destroyed and the shocking stat confirming it has never been so bad.. that's a huge concern. The lad needs to step it up.

Imagine ragging on one of your own when they weren’t responsible for any goals and actually were responsible for link up play that lead to our second goal.

IF we have an absolutely top quality CF who can link with TAA's vision and passing then we have an unstoppable weapon, and this surely more than enough to compensate TAA's defensive weakness.

No his first job is as a RB, anytime we play any team half decent the target the right side, yes he is good going forward but Konate gets pulled every game to the right hand side and we concede because of that.

Made some brilliant passes today and for the most part did well against Willock.

      Keep it up Trent!

Another who had a good game. 1st half his passing was brilliant. Looked focused as well and rarely got troubled defensively.

I liked the defensive set up with him and around him.

Barely saw Gordon get at him or have the chance to get at him.

Doku had a very good game last night against Spurs, created City's goal and a few other chances. Obviously Haaland played last night which improved City's performance but the main factor (from what I saw) was Doku cutting inside and getting on his right foot.
The Spurs RB had less help than Trent as well but Doku's performance last night would suggest that Trent played well against him on Sunday. Doku was very ineffective on Sunday.

After being beaten every time City went down our right on Sunday, he had one of his best defensive displays yesterday. Newcastle didn’t get a sniff down that side.

Didn’t do much of his wandering off into midfield so could concentrate on his defending and less chance of being caught out of position.
