Was caught daydreaming once in the second half which had me worried, but he stepped up big-time against one of the trickiest players in the league.
Fantastic! This will do his confidence the world of good. Just watch him grow now!

Him and Karius have built up a nice little partnership, TAA always available for him.

Couple shaky moments but overall, this is the kind of experience that will harden him. Their entire game plan was basically ā€œattack TAAā€ and it didnā€™t work.

The one very big concern going into the game.  What an absolute brilliant performance.  Like FL Reds said he was obviously the one big target for City.  They tried all night but he held firm.  This will instil confidence in the youngster.  Hope he puts an equally great performance in the second leg.

I think he did his homework. He watched back the other games where he got it wrong but tonight he was excellent and not fussed.

He was pumped. He had Sane in his pocket every time, only looked worried when Sane and Silva combined until back-up was provided.

Absolutely fantastic last night, great way to bounce back from a tricky couple of weeks.

Also didn't realise how quick he was, a couple of times he was a tad out of position and I was thinking Sane's got this but every time he got back in time to nick the ball way.

      Start him tonight.
Set him up to play offensively.
Put City under pressure on that side.

Let him f**king breathe it all in.

      Quite the opposite.

Played defensively and quite literally had Sane in his back pocket.

Man of the Match last night.

And seeing him roar on the rest of the lads with a few minutes to go was a sight to behold.

Pure scouse heart from Trent last night.

Clocked that roar toward the end, Stevie G'esque that ;D loved  the kids commitment after his performance against the scum...

Made up for him...can see years down the road Sane & Trent duals...

      Different type of game.
Have to admit that TAA/Lovren combo was my main concern.
Especially if City adopted a Utd/Palace target tactics.

Then City didn't and I suppose they don't really have the option of a big target front man to knock it on and give LFC problems with dealing with the 2nd ball.

That said Sane was their biggest threat/outlet and TAA had an exceptional night against him.

He was brilliant Racer but youā€™re spot on the tactics City employee made a difference too.

The thing that impressed me most was that you could see heā€™s been coached last few days and responding. He made sure he was always narrow and they responded with balls over the top.......but he closed the distance while the ball was in the air and never gave Sane (still their best player in the night I thought) more licence than his ability earned.

Last night his ability wasnā€™t enough.

Iā€™m still not convinced heā€™s a fb long term but I donā€™t see that as any kind of criticism.

He was outstanding last night and showed he could be coached. At 19 thatā€™s enough for now 👍

      Thanks for this comment.

Been observing how a lot of guys gave this lad the stick cos of a few bad runs. How many reckoned he should be benched for another player that hadn't kicked the ball all season just cos of a few errors.

Its like we cant recognize quality when we see it.

This guy makes me smile when I see him on the ball and when I do the trajectory of his growth compared to the local legend I was privileged to watch live I see him even doing bigger things than Stevie at his age.

Its okay to have opinions, criticize but lets also try to encourage our talents especially the young lads.

Hope most of you have eaten the humble pie after the 2 legs, with Sane mostly in the lads pocket.

Wonder if heā€™s going to be in line for a pay raise. Itā€™s not like heā€™s turning in these type of performances in some lowly cup games, these are Championā€™s league ties heā€™s doing this in. Amazing.

Never doubted him and itā€™s really really really good to have a local boy in the first 11.

I wouldnā€™t swap him for any other right back in the world.

      Next season:

      TAA - Gomez - VVD - Robertson

      Lovely

I would love to see that back 4, but would keep Lovren in and slowly ease Gomez into the back 4. Matip, Clyne and Moreno (or new left back?) as our back ups!

Looks like he has had a pay rise.
