No more than Moreno will so it's six in one really.

Would personally prefer Moreno marking Sanchez or Walcott than I would Gomez.

I think Arsenal will target Gomez tonight.

Regardless of the team we put out, i expect our formation will remain as is and that we will be setup to contain Arsenal in midfield and play the patient game looking for something possibly on the counter attack.
With Benteke providing a physical presence, i expect at least we will have a bit more threat around the Arsenal box than previous games coz they will play more expansively than our previous opposition.
I expect a draw but another sneaky 1-0 win will be great!
      Good luck tonight Reds.

Crowd the midfield, close down the space fast, mark that poacher giroud and bully their slow defence and we stand a chance.

If Hendo cant make it, I'm afraid Lallana will start provided he is fit. Would probably play a midfield 3 of Lallana, Can and Milner with the Samba boys behind Big Ben. Same back-4!

No, thats not what we need. Some of us are constantly negative( with good reason) and some are constantly positive. Yet , its the response's that turn it nasty. Negative posters are always on the defensive, whilst positive posters seem to be on all out attack mode.
I would say most insults thrown on here are by members who, how should i put this, think they hold the higher moral ground.
Anyway , it's got to be 4-5-1 tonight, lots of bodies in midfield , with a view to a break if Arsenal give the ball away in midfield. If Rodgers goes with 4-3-3 , to me, means he still,  simply has not learnt how to play with the big boys.

Can't say I agree with this.
We've started 4-5-1, or 4-2-3-1 in the last two games and looked exposed.
That might change if Henderson doesn't play and there is a designated deep lying player in the pair,
but I think 3 in midfield, with Lucas as the holding mid, is probably our best use of players available at the moment.

Coutinho and Firmino (Not out wide) supporting Benteke.

That or we go 3 at the back again, but seems we are settle on a back 4.

I'm a little worried about tonight, Arsenal are a good team and have a pretty awesome midfield. We gotta play 5 in the mid and leave absolutely no space, they will be ruthless if we do. If we play with some pacy playwers, we shouldn't worry about leaving Benteke up field on his own.

                            Migs

      Clyne       Skrtl        Sakho       Gomez

                     Can              Milner
       Firminho         Couts              Moreno

                          Benteke

I'm only scpetical about Ibe because he was showing his inexperience in the previous two games, he needs a gentler approach. Brin him on later for Firminho, and bring on Ings/Origi for Moreno.

As good a team as they are, Arsenal are vulnurable at the back, West Ham showed that. They can't deal with big strikers in general and they certainly can't deal with creative attackers like Couts. If we don't concende early and hold tight, Arsenal tend to run out of ideas and get frustrated, that's when we hit them on counter attack later on in the game - think Rafa did this effectively.

Should be a cracking game though.

If that's true, might not be a bad decision to get a midfielder this week.

So Lucas comes straight into the playing 11 and we're left with ZERO senior midfielders in the bench. Great!

I'm as worried as anyone, but I'm always a bit worried whenever we play, what if this n that happens. I'm not worried just because it's Arsenal and they have some great players. Think we'll go at them with pace tonight and not play the counter attacking tactics that maybe most are expecting.
If we don't play well and get taught a lesson, then at least we'll all know the state we're in a bit more.
      Simple really.
I won't go into the game expecting the worst though.
      Good luck LFC!

This is certainly not the thread for it, but if we sign another offensive midfielder before addressing our DM needs, I think I'll lose my mind.

Raining in London, not sure if that is a good thing or not.

Not confident about this game, even if we had won 4-0 in both of our opening 2 games, I'd still be unsure, but that's me.

The only way we can go and win, is if we go at them from the start, IMHO, allowing them to play and aiming to hit them on the break, like WHU did will be a disaster for us.

What ever the out come we will still be ahead of Everton & Chelsea, that is the only positive I can see at the moment.

      Some team news

      Team news
      Arsenal v Liverpool (20:00 BST)
      Posted at 17:27
Arsene Wenger is likely to keep faith with the team that sealed Arsenal's first win of the season. Mathieu Flamini is a doubt with an ankle problem while Danny Welbeck is still weeks off a return to training.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is a major doubt after limping off against Bournemouth with a foot problem. Emre Can is fit and ready to step into midfield should Brendan Rodgers be forced into making a change.

No news about Lallana supposedly being injured, but if he was why tell the world?

Going to be a long night for me.

First 10 / 20 minutes will be the test coz i've got a feeling they will go for that early goal or two straight from the off..
If we can weather that and settle down and get possession of the ball we can see what they're made of...

Batten down the Hatches this is gonna be a battle !

It's a shame if Lallana and Henderson are both injured and out of the game as is being rumoured

Time for others, Firmino among them, to step up and take their chances

Why is it a shame is Lallana is injured?

I still have lingering doubts about Can in midfield at this moment in time. Always thought he did well as part of a back three with Sakho and Skrtel. Still I'll be interested to see how he gets on if he starts tonight.
