I am a little disappointed that he has been so predictable with his selection, but maybe he will surprise everyone with his formation and tactics. I don't believe he will stick with the defensive tactics and just relying on our defence to hold firm without having something up his sleeve.

I think the first goal will be all important tomorrow (can't see us coming back), get that and confidence and belief may start to flow.

I really don't think that the lineup gives much insight into anything tactics wise to be honest.
I hope that we are in the diamond but I'm not sure we will be. I go has played on the wings so we could very well be in 4-3-3 again or even 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-2-3. I don't think we are predictable with that lineup. The players we play were always going to be predictable due to injuries but the formation and tactics are still very much a question

Looks like Shrek will miss this one for the Scum, according to the Mirror. That would be a huge plus if it turns out to be true. They'll probably play the big Microphone head up front in his place. Expect root1 football from them then!

Pretty much as expected, would be nice if we leaked a different team to you know, once in a while not be so damn predictable.

Just for the crack like/F**k some heads with a team we've no intentions of playing Luke?

Or just mix it up; you know, tinker with the squad?

I guess the problem with that is two-fold - 1: [given the players who are fit and available] it would be hard to deviate too much (maybe two or three players) and 2: the consensus tends to be that we want Brendan to "always put out his strongest XI".

Me? I prefer to offer my own XI up for consideration; safe in the knowledge that it's unlikely to be used. That way, if Brendan's XI 'fucks things up', I can always say (without ever being put in a position to prove it) that my team would have won.  ;)

Yeah completely mate, we've fallen into the pattern of leaking our team the day before the match that I believe a bit of disinformation might just give us a slight advantage.

Of course it wouldn't matter much but every little surely helps.

I thought the club had sorted these leaks before them game through building bigger walls around Melwood? Seems everyone knows our team a day in advance these days.

Just win today and if we win well then even better, but we the mancs are there for the taking, get straight into them!

I wonder if Sturridge will make the bench - it will be a welcome boost if he does.

Problem with Rooney being out is the young lad Martial might be thrown in, this boy is really really quick with and without the ball.

      So was Tony Daley.

Rooney will play imo and martial is a real potential star, pity he went ot united and pity for him he'll play for a manager who doesn't like players who express themselves

I like that side as well Mouse but I'd find a way to get Can into it.

I'm a huge fan of three at the back and with the right players and tactics it can be as attacking as we want it to be.

Lovren will start. Rodgers all but made that clear in the Press Conference. I like the team and the formation but not for an away game at Old Trafford, there's just too much that can go wrong having Moreno as cover for what we can presume would be Lovren.

Above anything else, I want to see a performance. If we get beat because United are simply a better team then so be it but a repeat of West Ham and Rodgers may as well hand his resignation in there and then. The atmosphere will turn toxic for the rest of the season.

      I wouldn't, that's why I didn't

I see him more box to box mate; too slow and cumbersome over the short distances a defensive midfielder needs to cover. For that reason and for this game, in that formation... No. Fine footballer and all as he is.  :gt-happyup:

       ;D

Honestly I see him more in a three stepping out into midfield rather than a classic DM but agree he can just as easily play as a box to box midfielder.
