Be interesting to see who is Captain with both Henderson and Milner out and Skrtel and Lucas not travelling. Presumably Toure as I don't think Brendan is too fond of Sakho.

      Something like this hopefully

      -----------migs-----------
      TBD-sakho-kolo-moreno
      -----Can---Rossiter-----
      Ibe-----Coutinho---firmino
      ---------origi/ings-----------

      Or
      ----------migs----------
      ----Same back 4--
      ------rossiter-------
      ----can--coutinho-
      --------firmino------
      ------ings-origi----

Maybe a bit offensive! Quite a lot of attacking options!

But he's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't mate.

If he played Benteke for 60 and we still lose then plays him at Norwich and we don't get a result people will ask what was the point bringing him to France.

I'm  probably as big a fan if the EL as there is km here but Brendan has shown he can't juggle a squad with two games a wee so this season I'd much rather he focused on one more than the other if it will get results.

My problem is that I don't even think that will be enough for him.

      Agree completely.

We have a bunch of strikers and are playing one up top - makes sense to use them in the Europa games as they will be coming in fresh if Benteke gets injured in the league.

It's Bordeaux - we should be able to beat them without relying on our star striker. It would be easy to play the strongest possible team but it would decrease our chances in the Norwich game; I see it as a good decision under pressure.

Rodgers is a (Manager who I believe has had his time here at the club) Absolutely had enough of his team picking inability, formation picking inability and his lack of motivational technique. Seriously how did he ever get considered for the job, let alone get it? Everything he does now is a further step backwards!

It's sort of weird, isn't it? We're disappointed we won't be playing the starters, yet very few of them deserve to keep their place after embarrassing losses to West Ham and United. How the F**k did the club get so bad?

I think the club/ Rodgers/ and some are underestimating the French side
its the first game of the group stages, and away a win is very important ( if we want to do well in this completion)
we are resting 5/6 first team ''starters'' for the Norwich game,
hope I am very very wrong, and this decision of BR /the club turns out to be a GOOD one and win both tomorrow and next weekend games

Brannagan and Chirivella traveled. Should be exciting to see if they or any of the youngsters get any minutes.
exciting for them yes, but not very ambitious if it's a win you need. Not slating the youngsters, but the lack of experience will no doubt be a factor.
Actually hope they all play and we win handsomely. That might prompt Brendan into changing something for the Norwich game.

Glad Sakho is starting, hope a decent performance might give him the chance of playing Sunday, along with Kolo Toure, but have my doubts. I may be old fashioned but think our strongest side should play in every game bar injury. But there again I am not the manager, so what do I know.

Disgraceful decisions, he's resting the players so they can struggle again in the weekend ? Just like the way he managed last year's european run, resting players just to lose again in the weekend, he's brain dead. What about building some confidence around the club with a good away result in Europe ? What's wrong with that, Rodgers ? He's not having a winning mentality, small club type of manager, if he would be given the reins of Barcelona, he'll manage to make them look ordinary.

I agree, I'd rather play our best team and win and bring that momentum to the weekend.

I don't like the fact how Rodgers takes European football not seriously, f**k right off with this mentality.
His interest is not aligned with us fans to start off with. We want to win every match yet he keeps Benteke and many experienced players at home? It's conflicting with what fans want. Unless he delivers the win.

The sh*t thing is... If we play well and win with a number of good performers from the second string players...

They'll all probably be back out of the team and squad on the weekend.

The only positive I can take from the way we will line up tonight is that Sakho will be starting. In all honesty, I'd have Bordeaux down for the win going into this. They will be bang up for this, will play their strongest line up and know we are there for the taking, especially because it's obvious Rodgers won't take this competition as a priority so will heavily rotate the team. Actually, that said, after our recent performances they deserve to be dropped anyway so a rotated team might be a blessing and show a bit of effort for a change.
