      Windows 10
      Sep 13, 2015 05:48:27 pm
Finally plucked up the courage to upgrade yesterday. So far so good!

Better than Windows 8.1 but if I was still using Windows 7 I would probably stick with what I have for the moment.

On installation I turned off all the tracking options I could, but I believe there are still some that you don't get the option to turn off?

Looks O.K. (Nothing special) and while it has a start menu I have got so used to living without one I haven't used it yet.

All my games and apps work fine (touch wood) so no problem with drivers so far.

No blue screens and the only real problem I have had so far is trying to get I.E. to work as I want it rather than how they want me to use it.

I have had Windows 10 for a month and a half now. I like it, now that I am familiar with it. I had Windows 7 before it.

Yeah it is a bit of a leap from Windows 7 mate. I have been using Windows 8.1 for a good while now, so not so much of a toxic shock for me.

I would say that Window 7 was probably the best all round of the lot, the only things Window 8.1 was better was drivers and stability, as it never crashed and seemed to run anything with no problems.

Hopefully Windows 10 will prove equally robust.

I'm still waiting for Windows 10 SP1. Plus I refuse to upgrade my surface pro until they improve the default email client in Windows 10, it is shockingly basic.

I have just continue to use Windows Live (outlook) for email so I have no idea what alternatives Windows 10 offers.

Windows 8 was the most useless piece of garbage operating system I have ever had the displeasure of using. 10 is a revelation so far compared to that. Still XP is my all time preference with 7 not too far behind.

Not for me, staying with 7.

Amiga v2.0 was the best OS for me.

Don't worry, your phone is much more a danger to your privacy than your computer.

Windows 10 seems to take an age to download on my laptop, I have cancelled the download a couple of times, wondering whether it is worth bothering with at all.

It took a few hours on mine mate but didn't take anywhere near as long on my desktop PC. It's probably best to start it all when you're off out somewhere.

Took a couple of tries for my mom, did it on my son's laptop first try, I really like it so far.

The  other nice thing...if you are upgrading from say Windows 7 straight to 10, it doesn't wipe everything out....it basically installs right over top of what you have. I thought that was pretty slick.

Yes, 1.3 was the one. Amiga500, was the 1st, then went to the A1200, 2 Floppy's and  4GB hard drive I think... Rock 'n' Roll.
Plus all the PD stuff through the post.

Been using Windows 10 for a couple of months now. Apart from a huge update that took about 3 tries to install everything has gone pretty smoothly.

The only real downside for me is that I have had to (well decided to) give up on I.E. and change to Chrome as I.E. just wouldn't behave  as I wanted it to.

Decided to keep it and have included it in my main backup now.

I used to use Firefox a good while ago , but I found a lot of the sites I visited didn't open properly with Firefox. No doubt all those problems have been resolved now, so I may give it a go if I decide Chrome isn't up to the job.

I use newsgroups a lot which was the main problem I had before with Firefox.

Used win 8 and 8.1 for ages on my shop bought PC then used win 10 for 3 or 4 months, then built a computer and tried getting a copy of win 7 again. Luckily the local market had two copies of win 7 pro.
I could "upgrade" to 10 again for free, I'll tell you what, I feel like I have my own computer now, instead of some rented computer that Microsoft mothers me about and meddles in my own property which I paid hard earned money for.
You can turn off all the telemetry stuff on win 10 but! You'll find it'll just decide to change your app choices and then you'll go to the 2nd control panel they have and your software won't be listed. It's smooth on the services streamlined side of things which is cool, it's also kind of a childish OS.

Why have two control panels? wtf is that %^&

I've used many Operating systems- over 20 linux ditro's and Windows from 95 onwards, believe me, Win 7 is the best.

Win 8.1 and 10 are still efficient, but they come with that nannying sh*t that I'd rather not have any more. I used to spend so much time just tinkering with the OS to be useful and not get in my way, now I just don't even need to.

I like change, it's not even because I'm unwilling to learn new things. I know windows 8 and 10 inside out. I don't need that sh*t in my life.

Don't upgrade. This lousy piece of sh*t made my laptop useless. Wifi didn't work at all.

Upgraded, rolled back and reinstalled drivers and nothing worked. Tried every tip and program to fix it that Google suggested.

Only got a non-Mac product to have access to one or two programs I didn't want to run off Parallels/Bootcamp. Majorly regret it. Wish I had Windows 7 which was the only one I liked.

Now rolling back to Windows 8. The less-sh*t version of this junk.

Been using W10 for awhile no, absolutely no issues whatsoever. But I have heard of folks having driver issues. Sucks that it doesn't work for you because it's way better than Windows 8 which is garbage in my opinion.

I don't use it for that many things so as long as it does enough I'm happy.

But couldn't even surf the web with 10. Very relieved I could switch back instantly.

I've been using it a while now too. Only real problem I have had is that I have had two hard drives fail since I got it. Maybe coincidence, but reading online it seems to be a common problem with Windows 10, especially with hybrid drives like mine. Luckily my second Hard drive was still under warranty so they are exchanging it. Just wish I was more conscientious about backups.

Not had a problem with driver issues mate, only with hard drives.
