This is what Brendan said afterwards about Sakho.

Rodgers said: "Sakho was immense at the back. He knows he has had to be patient and his attitude has been first class.

"He has trained very well, kept professional, done his extra work on his fitness and he has got his rewards for that.

"He certainly comes into the reckoning for the weekend against Norwich."

So, apparently Sakho was unfit, wasn't professional enough last season and is only comes into rekoning for the weekend. Fuuuuuuuuk me man. BR is worse than useless. So, Lovren has been better than Sakho all season! Sakho has been consistent last season and should be 2nd name on the sheet after Coutinho IMHO.

Should've won it after Ings' great chance (brilliant touch to set himself up) but overall a draw probably fair. Both teams were crap.

Ibe was awful, Rossiter was lacking, Can was pretty dire.

Coutinho was our bright spark, Lallana a superb goal and Ings was bright when he came on.

Thought we'd lose given the squad we sent over, so i'm pleasantly surprised to not see that happen. From what i understand, that was Bordeaux's full strength side against our reserves, really. So good point away from home.

On to Norwich where 3 points is a must given the selections tonight.

You're worse than the Daily Mail!

Where in that green font does it say Rodgers said Sahko wasn't professional enough?

You're not a journo by any chance?

Well, we're off the mark and a point away is a good point.

Not a bad result and actually a much better performance than the last 2 games played considering the inexperience of the players on show.
After this performance i trust Sakho will get a sustained run in the first team and also Gomez looked very tidy as a CB too.
We still have serious concerns going forward...i really hope they work extra hard on our attacking play instead of filtering everything through Coutinho.

Norwich on Sat is going to be tough if our attack doesnt get going.

Good for Rodgers LFC mentality, but for me that is not good enough.

Average game with average players. The only top class players are Cou and Sakho.

We are crying for player like Kondogbia, Nainggolan...

Well I'm not surprised by the result, for  years we used to struggle in the CL or Europa league against these opposition away (no matter the lineup) scraped results or tied or lost, so I'm not worried how we performed.

You work with the tools you've got and an away draw in Europe isn't a bad result. It's well documented how this competition has an effect on league form, especially in England, and it was a brave decision to still field a shadow team after the way the early season has gone. Given the ages of these players it wasn't that bad a performance, especially when you consider it was their first game in a European competition and they were playing away from home.

He wasn't referring to that in the green font - he was referring to what Brendan said last season about Sakho, do keep up!!

Pity the rest of your posts were deleted as I was learning some new words (and some new and disgusting practices!)  :)

      Back on topic

What exactly did Brendan say about Sakho last season?

A draw wasn't a disaster but I still feel we could have done so much better and wouldn't like to think how I would feel if this draw eventually costs us.

If we didn't qualify I don't think we would be looking back at this result.  There would have be to a hugely disappointing home game for us to get knocked out.  Don't most of the third placed sides qualify?

You work with the tools you've got

Come on now - some of the players are ok.

Did not see the game, as working, so I don't know and can't comment on how we played.

      Very disappointed with this result.

As soon as I read that we were to play with a "weakened" side, I thought WTF. For me the cowards way out:

If we'd won, then hey we have a great bunch of youngsters coming through the ranks.

If we'd lost, then hey the youngsters have gained some good experience.

As it is we have lost 2 points, we are not top of the table, and the team that will be put out on Sunday still have not had a win for ages.

The boost that that win will have made is lost because we did not have the balls to play a full strength team.

In the earlier qualifying rounds that's true mate, but only the top two from every group qualify from the group stage + 8 CL 3rd placers (I think ! ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015%E2%80%9316_UEFA_Europa_League

      i.e 12 groups = 24 teams + 8CL 3rd placers = 32 teams to progress

Although to address your main point I think you are correct in that we would have to shoot ourselves in the foot at home not to get through.

He played a weak team to absolve himself from flak. If he plays his first choice team and they predictably play sh*t, he got no excuses.
He a weak novice who needs sacking as soon as possible.
