Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is not fit enough to play in new manager Jürgen Klopp's first home game in charge when the Reds play Rubin Kazan. However, Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Dejan Lovren are back in training and likely to be in the squad for Thursday's Europa League group tie. Sturridge missed Klopp's debut at Tottenham with a knee injury. Klopp hopes the 26-year-old is available for Sunday's home league game against Southampton. "Sturridge is getting better and better," he said. "Yesterday he was outside for the first time since Saturday. "It was OK and the target for him is Sunday, for sure. That's what we'll try to do." Liverpool have drawn both of their Europa League games so far and are second in their group, level on two points with third-placed Bordeaux. FC Sion are top with four points, while Rubin Kazan are bottom with one point. Benteke, Firmino and Lovren had respective hamstring, back and ankle injuries and, even though they are back training with the first team, Klopp does not think they are "starting options" against Rubin Kazan.
Depends if they have impressed the manager in the training, which I assume they must have. Put it this way I have a bit more faith in Klopp than I do in you as regards who to play and when :-)
Yeah yeah, defense is great, but what about the midfield,i mean Chirivella and Teixiera in the first team,do they deserve that at all?Teixiera is 22 year old player in the club since 2012 and he played one game for the first team while Chirivella is still uncapped.Do you honestly think that those two deserve a place in the first team in Klopp's debut at Anfield?
Forget the fact that it's Klopp's first game at Anfield. That should not be a factor in what team gets played.
I think that we or he should not forget that.Maybe with that in his head he would like to impress the fans and play the best team available.
