Southampton 1-6 (SIX) Liverpool: In game and Post Match Jubilation
      Dec 02, 2015 06:45:02 pm

      St Mary's

      https://twitter.com/LFC/status/672130849916129280

Starting XI: Bogdan, Randall, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Lucas, Allen, Lallana, Origi, Sturridge

Subs: Mignolet, Smith, Milner, Benteke, Firmino, Henderson, Ibe

No Coutinho in the LFC squad tonight. LFC will be captained tonight by Lucas.

Daniel Sturridge makes his first Liverpool start for two months as the Reds take on Southampton in their League Cup quarter-final this evening.

Having featured as a second-half substitute against Swansea City on Sunday, the striker is in from the off at St Mary’s.

He is joined in attack by Adam Lallana and Divock Origi, while Adam Bogdan is between the posts and Connor Randall plays at right-back.

Jordan Henderson is named on the bench as he continues his recovery from injury, and Lucas Leiva captains the team.

No Clyne, no Milner and no Coutinho. Origi up top? F****** hell hope the boss knows what he's doing (well I know he "knows what he's doing" but you get my drift).

Yes, he knows. Only Clyne is not in. The others are experienced enough to win.

I was hoping for a stronger selection than that, but a chance for a few players to re-establish themselves. Origi I think will start wide and try to link with Sturridge.

I think midfield may prove a problem, but with the pace of Sturridge and Origi we may try to contain and hit them on the break.

It is a different feel with a solid midfield and a very pacey front 2 . Can we have a collective fingers crossed from forum members that Daniel doesn't stub his toe on the way out to the pitch

I honestly like the team. It might be the Klopp effect.

Saints with a strong lineup. Looks like their usual XI but with Caulker in for Fonte.

Looks like Fonte is out for Saints, which is good as he's an excellent CB.

Bold lineup there against a pretty strong Southampton team.

Looks like Jürgen might be going for a smash and grab.

The only major concern for me is the lack of creativity I see from the team, so you could be right, might be a smash and grab for us.

That looks like a proper diamond formation, or may be Origi plays wide left

Not the strongest lineup but still plenty of quality and experience in there.

Great opportunity for Sturridge to announce his return proper and some of the lesser lights to make an impression.

Not sure there's enough there to beat a strong Southampton side. Might need pens here.
