Gotze maybe bottom of the pile at Munich but you have to first look at our depth chart:

      1. Philippe Coutinho
      2. Roberto Firmino
      3. Adam Lallana
      4. Jordon Ibe
      5. Lazar Markovic
      6. Marko Grujic

Now where is Gotze going to fit in that list? Or to think of it another way, where are those six players going to fit in Bayern's list? Not a single one would be higher than Gotze so yes, for a squad bursting with talent he's probably not worth it and warming the bench is the right decision. We don't have a squad bursting with talent though, so yes, he's worth all the fuss.

      Is he?

Bigger than Luis?! And probably bigger than Torres?! Not a f**king chance!

      Gotze is so overrated.

not getting into this debate because you obviously don't know enough about Gotze, judging by you underrating him so much. actually i think the signing would be on par with Suarez - a player who would go for 30mil plus but has question marks around him - Suarez had the suspensions and playing in the Dutch league, Gotze has moving to Bayern and not being used like he was at Dortmund.

Gotze isn't overrated just because you haven't seen him in the news lately.

a lad who thinks we're a "step down" for him ppppffff who the hell is too big for Liverpool

he never said anything like that...

For all you know, Arse might probably sell Walcott with West Ham interested and sign Gotze.

So, Sanchez-Ozil-Gotze behind Giroud and a Ramsey-Xhaka midfield. Not bad I say! Replace Giroud with someone like Higuain and they "potentially" have a title winning team. POTENTIALLY!

It'd be a tasty attacking line up.

Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, Gotze, Lallana, Ojo, Ibe, and then Milner and Origi.

Bayern don't want him...Madrid/Barca don't want or need him; best place to play every week and re-establish himself as a star is right here. Going to take some time and a lot of work but no place is better for him than we are.

We've plenty of other players to sell before Coutinho if you're meaning we need to sell to buy him.

He might not get many games this season due to not having European games but that gives Jürgen time to get him back to his best and for him to settle in and gives us a massive boost for next season when we will be in Europe.

Admittedly, when the realisation of what you had said dawned, you went back and erased the quote (no big deal btw) but but I have to ask: [after spending £30m on Mane] don't you think that Jürgen's signing of Gotze (should it happen like you now accept as possible ) goes against what you initially told us?...

Like your good self s@int, I hope and trust that Jürgen can bring ready made quality into the team before the end of the window. I have a gut feeling he will and.... I also have a gut feeling that, when he does, those who say they are really happy with a policy of signing unknown kids will suddenly be happy that we have signed top quality.

After all (tease as I do); I don't actually take exception to folk pretending they don't want us to sign big, ready-made, names.

The truth is that I find it amusing and... I know for a fact that, when Jürgen does sign just such a player, the flip-flopping will be a joy to behold.

      Only teasing...   ;)

Honestly BBB...I don't consider Mane @30 or Gotze at @20 as huge players signing..I really don't considering that TV revenues to each club this season are up 55% and in relation transfer fees are also going up....When I say/said I don't see Jürgen going out and spending big money on world class players I still stick to it.

Truly Mane's price went up and if there were no TV deal I think he would have gone for around 20m....the fact that Southampton don't really need to sell and that the last place finishing team in the PL will pocket £100 million just off the TV deal shows how insane the market is.

He spent 14 million on Reus a few years ago which for Dortmund was big money but in relation to world football a drop in the bucket where worldies are now going for north of £60 million and fellas like Raheem going for £50+.

Would not surprise me when all is said and done his average spend/per player will work out around the £13 million mark.

i thought so too - i thoght he was earmarked as the coutinho cover, but i can see gotze coming in for benteke. we'd have three strikers to fit into a 1 or 2 up top system - sturridge, origi with ings as backup - then you have firmino and gotze who can compliment the 1 up top, or lead the line themselves if it comes to that, or play in the 3 behind a striker. would be boss.

How was Gotze ever going to be a replacement for Coutinho? If Coutinho wasn't leaving and Gotze was meant to be joining then when has all that come from?
