Short term cover because at the time we had two injured CB's and one that is 35 years old?

Perfectly logical. However, he still hasn't been featuring apart from those first couple of short appearances when he signed, and that was to play up top.

because we have four centre halves all fit again. why would we involve the one we brought in on emergency loan?

Short term stop gap who knew he wouldn't be getting games when our other defenders were fit, wow, I'm shocked.

      Is that sarcasm I sense?

Was only thinking about Caulker the other day, and was thinking similar - why did we sign him?  Looking at it now, can only have been concerns over the number of injuries we had. But when players started coming back, he got shunted right back to the end of the queue. Not our most inspirational Jan window signing.

Jürgen had only been in a few weeks, we needed a centre-half, the transfer committee said "hey Jürgen this lads alright" so he took their word for it. Then he saw Caulker play and thought "this lads shi.....t!" I'll figure me own transfer targets from here on in ta very munchen

Remember when everyone was saying what clever and shrewd business this was.

Same people who were on the Benteke bandwagon over the summer.

I'm pretty sure that if the club started World War 3, there would still be some people saying "great business, if the manager wants World War 3, we should trust him."

Not everybody was in agreement with the Caulker loan signing, I for one wasn't but I did understand the decision to bring in another centre back on loan considering most of ours were injured at the time and we were in so many competitions. It isn't the end of the world.

Wish people would stop making assumptions that everybody was against them to try and show that they're the God of all opinions.

You could take that view with any transfer. There will always be people who back certain signings from the off as clever or whatever, and at the same time there will be those who question it. Either way it usually results in one of the two parties posting "I told you so"...as is the case to this post I am quoting.

The signing made perfect sense at the time and has probably proved to be a decent one when you actually think about what he's done. We needed a centre back because Sakho was coming back from injury and he's known to be prone to injury. Lovren was out injured, Skrtel was injured, and Toure is hardly Mr. Reliable (though, to be fair, he was very good when he was called upon). He was brought in as a just in case. Turns out we haven't had to use him, but an injury to either Sakho or Toure and things could've turned out very differently. If Sakho or Toure had gone down injured and we ended up playing Ilori or Enrique there would've been murder.

The signing made sense and he massively contributed to Allen's equaliser against Arsenal and the Lallana winner against Norwich. Not sure how anyone can complain especially when it's a loan signing.

Well for a Center back, he didn't do too bad up front. Think Klopp has played him as a striker as often as he has a defender !

      Technically 25%

But he played only 3 minutes of that win at Norwich

      He's played in 4 games

      Won 1 (Norwich 5-4 89th min sub)
Drew 2 (Arsenal 3-3 89th min sub, West Ham 0-0 played full game)
      Lost 1 (Utd 0-1 89th min sub)

So the only game that he played in full we kept a clean sheet?  :P

He was able to keep a clean sheet in the Olympic team against Uruguay who had Suarez in their side. He looked solid all match and I have no doubt he is better than Skrtel. Ward and Caulker could be very good players for us but we are stuck playing Mignolet and Skrtel

so I take it he hasn't grasped his chance with both hands. We have one fit CB and he picks Toure ahead of him andI cant remember the last time he was even in the squad.

Can somebody explain to me what is wrong with Caulker? Does he rub people up the wrong way? Is he bad at training? I don't get it. He was excellent on loan at Swansea yet for some reason Kaboul and Dawson were ahead of him in the pecking order when he went back at Spuds despite Kaboul being sh*te and Dawson having legs made from concrete. He played well at Cardiff (they even named him their captain) and was QPR's best player (which granted isn't much of an accomplishment because that team was steaming hot dog sh*te dressed in vomit) yet he couldn't buy a game at Southampton and Kolo (bless him) and Lucas (a midfielder) were ahead of him in the pecking order here.

I just don't understand why there seems to be this massive gap between the lad's talent and the faith managers place in him. For his sake I hope he gets regular playing time wherever he'll be next season.
