Pre Match: FC Augsburg v Liverpool Thurs 18/2 20:05KO
      Feb 15, 2016 09:38:50 am
We travel to Germany for the first leg of our round of 32 fixture against Augsburg.

With just this and the second leg before the League Cup final, does Klopp go with a mixture of fringe/youth players or go full strength?

I would play a near full strength side, with Sturridge starting from the bench, and Origi taking his place from the start.

      Mignolet

      Clyne
      Toure
      Sakho
      Moreno

      Milner (c)
      Lucas
      Emre Can
      Coutinho

      Firmino
      Origi

Subs: Ward; Ilori, Smith; Henderson, Stewart; Benteke, Sturridge.

Augsburg lost 3-1 at home to Bayern at the weekend and are currently sitting 14th in the league.

I'm confident of a win here after our 6-0 thrashing of Aston Villa, so I'm going for 3-1 to us.

A 2-0 win for the Reds! Sturridge, Firmino,Coutinho will be too much for them to handle.

all of a sudden we have a goal threat from all over the pitch I don't know much about Augsburg but if we play like that again we will brush them away .

Augsburg currently 14th out of the 18 team Bundesliga.

Lost 3-1 at home to Bayern Munich this weekend.

28 year old Raúl Bobadilla who was born in Argentina but plays for Paraguay seems to be their main goal threat.

Time to go into 'Classic european away night' mode. A 1-0 or 2-1 win , minimal fuss and get the hell out unscathed.

Going from not being too bothered about this cup at the beginning of the season, I'd like to see us really go out and win it now.

The commentator on yesterday's game implied that Sturridge only started because Lallana had a calf injury or something - which is a worry.

So, I don't know if Sturridge will be picked to start, I'd like to see him start personally, if his body can hold out.

I know this sounds bad, but it was quite refreshing to see Lallana not playing yesterday. He's pretty much been a constant in the side and hasn't come up with the goods. It's been highlighted that him and a few others haven't been able to step up to the mark when it's back to the wall. So, I'd like to see Sturridge get another 60 minutes at least from the start along with Coutinho.

Get the job done on away goals and then we can rest a few before the League Cup final, perhaps.

      Yes.

Likes a tussle the lad so much so he will be a major threat at every set piece we concede.

Play the team that played Villa for the 1st leg and the team that played West Ham in the return fixture.

We should wrap this up in Germany

No risks. I would pick the strongest team to start the game, bring Sturridge off after an hour. I would really like us to win the cup, get back in the CL and then hopefully it will boost our spending power in the summer. Could cut a year off our rebuilding ?

I say it every year when we're in the Europa... A trophy is a trophy.

Winning this cup would be absolutely AMAZING!!!! Let's face it, we fu**ed up the league ages ago, we're out of the FA Cup, we've made it to the final of the league cup.

This competition is now our highest priority. How amazing would it be to see us lift a European cup again. I still get butterflies thinking about Fowler, McAllister, Berger etc lifting the trophy after that F***ing unbelievable game!!!

IN IT TO F***ing WIN IT!!!!

We should treat every one of the remaining EL games as the final. Go out to win it, no dicking around.

Agree with the sentiments in this thread that we should really go for this. Sturridge from the bench and we should be able to nab a win over there so we can rest some next week before the final.

I hate Thursday night football but not for the usual reasons.

I miss every one of these games because of work, so ffs lads get this competition won so I can enjoy European footy again next season.

We've no game at the weekend so no need to rest players unless they need it and I'm expecting a strong 11 to hopefully get the job done in this leg.

Same team as yesterday and get the job done in the first leg. Hopefully we can then rest Sturridge, Coutinho etc in the second leg.

I'd rather us get this round done and dusted before we play them at Anfield. Therefore, I'd have our strongest team starting. Benteke on the bench just in case..ahem.

I've been a little disappointed with our recent Europa League efforts.

This is winnable for us, we must be one of the favourites surely. We could get a Champions League place which we have virtually no chance to do through the league.

I think this should be top priority to be honest. To win this will required us beating some decent sides and it's a good competition once you get past the group.

I think we'll start to see stronger sides in this now mate, especially now we have some of the walking wounded back and I wouldn't worry, I'm sure Jürgen knows how important this competition is.

Don't think we have a weekend match? If not, I would like to see us go out there with a relatively strong lineup.

Our next domestic game is in a couple of weeks in the League Cup final. We have the two Europa games before then though. I'd go strong in this first leg, hope to seal the deal and rotate the squad just slightly so that our better players are fresh for the final.

No doubt we'll make a pigs ear of it and have to field a stronger side for the second leg though :D

      f***in 'A'+ mate,
      I'd play this..

                       Mignolet
          Clyne Toure Sakho Moreno
                            Lucas
               Milner.          Emre Can
                        Coutinho
            Firmino.           Sturridge

Bench ; Ward, Flanagan, Caulker, Allen, Ibe, Origi, Teixeira.

Agree with Lred83, this is now our number one target, the league and most probably a 4th place is beyond us if we're realistic,
We will win the league cup, Citeh won't be able to handle Cou,Studge & Bobby,

Our final league position will take care of itself so I say let's go all out and win this, imagine the ructions if we were to make CL, I'd f***in love it, anyhoo let's get past Augsburg first before the hard ons appear eh!

      1-2 mighty Reds
