I reckon Xabi would definitely have to be thrown in that discussion.

That was the only one I considered

I thought he was excellent last night, as good defensively as he was in the ball

Not someone I'm convinced we should give a contract extension to and his overly relaxed manner is problematic.

Superb for a season or two but maybe time to move on and reinvent that midfield totally?

Agree. he does not deserve to be on such a contract when he's injured for about a third of games and he has a good game one in a while. I don't think he brings enough to the team given what we need right now.

We haven't got the players or the money to replace though so going to have to suck it up.

Looks like he is being dragged down to the level of the sh*te around him.

Tend to agree, atleast today. Worst passing I've ever seen from him

He was poor today, but I think he has been better over the few games before that than he was earlier in the season. His fitness looks to have improved and he is working harder. Would have him and Bajcetic as 2 of our midfield 3, and then there's an interesting question as to whether the 3rd midfielder should be Keita, Hendo or Elliot (or whether we should change formation and just play 2 CMs).

He gives the ball away too many times, trying fancy sh*t at the wrong time.

I really don't understand, what does he do that is supposedly world-class? He's technically very gifted for sure but his influence on the game is not very great IMO. Thiago is not THE problem of the midfield but he is surely not the solution at the moment.

Exactly mate, yes he's quality, we all know that but I can't even remember him supplying an assist for anyone. How is that possible with his quality on the ball?

Needs to go in the summer. More money for the kitty. Nice to watch on his day against the right opponent ... but never going to be available often enough, so taking his age into consideration ... Time to cash in.

Thiago is an important player. When you're playing good football and have good enough squad depth that you can afford him missing a few weeks here and there its really nice. On the other hand, when you have a season like the one we are having and you have to count on him being fit, he feels a bit like a luxury player.

If the midfield is properly revamped this summer then I would definitely keep him. What he brings when on the pitch when everyone around him is doing a good enough job is invaluable. Still our best midfielder this season in my opinion

I don't think we would get any money for him and I assume he's on a big weekly wage, don't even know if anyone would take on the wage due to his age and injury record.

I'm happy for him to stay another season until his contract expires in June 24. Ox, probably Keita and Milner will go this summer and he can still be useful for another season. He can probably only play a limited number of games but as PolarBearRed says, he's just needs a few younger, fitter players with him to do the running. With 5 subs per game he should not be playing 90 mins twice a week.

Thiago was always injury prone, has never stayed fit for more than half a season.

Only midfielder we can rely on now is an 18 year old kid.

      Sad state of affairs.

Thiago too many injuries, Kieta still waiting him to put in a run of performances in same with Jones when does potential become not good enough Milly a pensioner and Hendo injuries catching up with him. After taking all the plaudit for smart recruitment we have made a complete hash of the last few seasons.
Still time for a few of them to perform this season.
