Great header. Now I want to see Joe and VVD do the same, more frequently.

I agree. We need more goal threat from our CB's at set pieces.

Would prefer him concentrating on opposition set pieces!

No VVD to tell him what to do tonight.

Did wonderful for their second goal, and that header pass to Salah instead of scoring the goal was the correct decision.   >:(

There is a reason he is 4th choice.

Good for nicking the odd goal, but was surprised he started the other night. Had bigger hopes for him when he signed, but he's firmly 4th choice now. Might get a run in the FA Cup.

When we signed him I thought he looked like quality but he’s just not progressed.

For last 18 months he’s really struggled (when fit) with the physicality of the English game.

There was nothing scientific about Red Star last night - their approach was reminiscent of a low / mid-table Prem side who wanna give one of the big boys a bloody nose.

A remnant of the penny-pinching days when we signed cheap "potential" rather than the real deals.

Probably wouldn't have been as exposed if there had been a midfield in front of him though.

Just liked we signed Gomez and Robertson, correct? damn those penny pinching days.

Low / mid table prem is quite charitable for me.

      Spot on post though.

Gomez was 18 playing in a lower league and Robertson cost £10 million from a relegated team.

Neither were signed as immediate starting 11 players.

      Matip was.

And he did well while he was starting and currently is a fantastic depth player to have. He didn't cost anything and do not believe is on a lot of money. We also got Milner on a free and he has been a Klopp favorite. Signing a player on a free or low fee has nothing to do with "penny pinching" and it's a great way to build depth when you're not swimming in oil money.

I actually think his ground passing is up there with the very best in Europe, if not the best, I don't even think I have seen the likes of Luiz or Bonucci make the passes he makes on a frequent level.

An excellent player to call upon and he's had a superb week for the club. Well in Joel.
