So good he's keeping Joe on the bench and rightly so.

He has been absolutely rock solid ever since coming in for Gomez, bar the one or two games where he looked a bit nervous. All in all, he has been a brilliant piece of business again by Klopp and the management team. Remember we got the lad in on a free transfer.

He's one of the best in the world at breaking the lines. It may not always look as majestic as when Van Dijk does it, but it's so effective and it always causes chaos with opposition teams. Great forward passing too.

It's also clear how good he is or can be when he is fully fit for a long period of time. Hasn't been injured for quite some time now (knocks on wood) and it shows that when he gets a good run in the team, he's a fantastic option to have.

You also never see him moan or hear even the slightest negative thing about him in the media or whatever.

      Brilliant performance Joel.

Who would have thought at the start of the Season, going form 4th Choice CB to certain starter in a European Cup Final? Just Wow!

Been class for a month or so now. Very solid defensively.

Whereas in the past I used to wince as he strode out with it, I have confidence in him now the way he is playing that he will break through the lines and pick a quality pass out.

He been putting in the type of performances that Lovren was doing last season which shows given a run of games and little confidence can do.

In the first half there was break, they had 3 on 2, or maybe 4 on 3, yellow jerseys in the box, Messi on the ball, looked like he would slip a pass, or beat the defender to make space for a shot, a certain goal - was it Joel who got a foot in to nick it off Messi ?   Whoever it was, was an amazing tackle.

VVD, but the pass to Messi was offside and ref played the advantage as we had a counter on the cards :D

Matip's tackle on Messi just after we scored sums up his come-back. Messi thought that he would go round Matip, Matip thought otherwise :D

He improved drastrically and would be happy to keep him fighting for his place.

Yesterday, in the first he anticapted a pass that if not Son would be one to one Becker. Brilliant.

Theres absolutely no need to let the guy go. He might not be the starting player when everyone is fully fit but he adds great depth to the squad. Not always been his biggest fan but with a run of games next to our beast he has been brilliant.

In all honesty hes pushing Joe for a starting place and might even edge it at this point.

Unheralded and overlooked but he's been quite sensational. Started the season as distant 4th choice centre back with many supporters who would not have been fussed if he had been sold. Ended it as Virgil's CB partner with a string of highly competent and smart displays. And yet because of the quality of displays Gomez provided during the first half of the season, it is not set in stone whether he starts next season alongside Virgil. I guess pre season will determine which one of Joe or Joel will start next season.

Agreed, he's been a bit of an unsung hero, particularly in the last 3 months of the season.

      Consistently very good.

Sometimes all a player needs is a good run in the team and a boost of confidence. He's been excellent for quite some time now.

So pleased to see him developing into a top CB under Jürgen. Who would you rather have £50mil Stones or free Joel.

Kicked on from where he ended last season. Seems to be developing a good partnership with VVD

Yep, thought he deserved to start ahead of Joe on the back of Joel's efforts last season.

Joe looked out of touch early and it was only his recovery speed that saved our blushes, a few times!
