Played well but really thought he should have stopped that cross coming in to Rashford, for their goal. He was in front of him. Gutted.

Watch it again, rashford makes 2 dummy runs. You can't defend everything. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say the striker was better at that moment in time

I thought  Joel played alright. Has a sore knee again and didn't travel. Hopefully this is not becoming chronic.

I know mate but with his gangly giraffe legs  ;D, I was hoping he could have got something on it, but if he did, it most likely would have gone in the back of the net anyways!

Not good news at all. Happy we kept Dejan despite his obvious short comings. We would be in a bit of a whole now if it was just Joe and Virg.

Luckily we have Lovren and Gomez. I’m positive both will do a job for us.

Disappointing for Matip who form been very good this season but it isn't anything new from him. Every season he seem to miss a period of time with injury. This just provides a opportunity for Lovren or Gomez to get their spot back next to VvD.

I want to see Joe cement his place again, he was superb last season before his injury, had such a good partnership with Virgil. Lovren just makes me nervous every time I see him, overall he is a very good defender but he has far to many lapses of concentration.

Big blow for the City game as Lovren seems to be the preferred alternative.
His lack of pace will be a major concern as Trent is often caught up field.

I'm not he is an accident waiting to happen, why not bring on Gomez, now Gomes must think he is never going to get a game

Gomez ahead of Lovren or not it was the correct decision to keep hold of Dejan, we cant play a full season with 3 bloody centre backs.

Gomez on the seasons showing so far is correctly down in 4th position  because hes been poor when he has played.

Matip and Lovren have found themselves in 4th choice in the last few years and fought back up the pecking order, and now it is Joe's turn to do so.

He can have no complaints to be honest, but like Lovren his time will come where we will need him. For now, we will need him Wednesday.

Matip is a very good CB but also very fragile.

Not sure if he's a reliable long term third choice CB.

We definitely need to sign a good back up CB this Summer.

Like the centre-back version of Aurelio, just made of glass!

Need this lad back ASAP to reestablish some much needed defensive stability. We must start a run of clean sheets if we want to retain the title.

I don't think any club will be consistent this season. I don't expect us to be as strong defensively but we may not need to be as I  foresee a lot of freak results.

But if we can find any form of defensive stability it will be an advantage as all clubs will be conceding goals regularly.

So having Matip back will be a big bonus for us the only issue is how long can he can stay fit.

If he's fit and I mean properly fit I'd start him on Saturday.

Not sure he will be ready though after so long out so the safe option is to stick with Gomez.
