Definitely one of my favourite displays tonight. Had a bit of a nightmare in the first half but was faultless in the second half. Takes some strength of character and mind to regroup and put in a display as good as that in the second half after the experiences of the first. Brilliant Joel!

One of the things I like about Joel, every time he is written off either with injuries or a bad performance he comes back with some very good performances.

Honestly thought he was done last year, come back and proved a lot of us wrong.

Some tip top forays forward today recognized the need to help the front 3 . Very intelligent footballer

Bro, he's been amazing this year. 🙌

One of the most underrated players in the world for me. Doesn't get anywhere near the respect he deserves. Him and the big man in the team gives us as good a chance as the front 3.

Whilst other players get the plaudits it’s fair to say that Big Joel is as key to the team as others

If they redo the 100 players that shook the Kop then Matip imo would fly into the top 20

Nah he's good but within the top 20, not a chance.

Read that he’s considering coming out of international retirement for AFCON. It was Echo though so big grain of salt.

      LEGEND.

To be fair when he does those runs he looks like Bambi on ice and has generally no idea what to do with the ball once he gets to the edge of the opponents box.

Yea he's fantastic at bringing the ball out and through midfield but always looks a CB once he gets to the edge of the box.

I mean if he looked like a midfielder or forward when he hit the edge of the box he'd probably not be playing in defense ;D

He can play midfield and was used occassionally as a DM in Germany.

      Having a really good season.
Can't believe how fit he's managed to stay, maybe there's hope for Naby yet.
Looks as dangerous, if not more so, than Hendo, or Fab, or Milly bringing the ball up to the edge of the box.
Tends to get a nosebleed then though.
If he could practice shots from 25yards, then he gets 2 or 3 off a game, cause he gets up there a fair bit, maybe he scores one.
Keep it up Joel. You might get in my FF team yet :)

Right that Joel can run with a ball quite well, but reason he has time and space to do so because opponents all engage to our other players.
Agree if he could manage to shot at some distance, say half of Danny Aggger, that could be quite useful.
