Don't believe it personally, we were meant to have made an offer for him before but we hadn't.

Yeah, his agent could be smoking out offers etc.

Plenty of Liverpool journalists been so clear he isn't/hasn't been a target despite tenuous links.

I like the look of him though, looked decent for Germany and 15m isn't bad for a leftback like him. I also like his story that he has flourished fairly late and played lower leagues, maybe shows an ability to adapt and grow as a player and deal with pressure.

Honestly think we'll eventually just fork out the extra few million for Chilwell.

He seems the man and is young and English, clearly fits the clubs profile we look for and 7m to 10m isn't a huge leap.

Wasn't wowed by him at the Euros, but he at least looked halfway competent, so would be an upgrade on Moreno.

We need to be in the market for a LB, so hope its not just bullshit from his agent.

Yeah. I didnt think he looked great tbh, but it gives me the heebie jeebies thinking Moreno might still be our LB this season. I'm just happy we are being linked with alternatives. The "Klopp rates Moreno" theory on here worries me. God help us if its true!

Gonna call bullshit. Seems like he's off from his club and his agent is just wanting a big club to come in for him.

Why not? I don't think we'll sign Hector but teams do need 2 left backs.

Barca are apparently close to signing Lucas Digne. And I cant understand Spurs' interest in Hector. I'm not sure if he is an improvement over Rose (purely based on last season) and Ben Davies is a more-than-able back up.

I think if we are really interested and match the asking price, he'll be ours. But I guess Klopp prefers someone like Chilwell rather than an experienced LB.

It's not mate, it's rumoured that Roberto Carlos will sign any day soon, he wasn't that good in his heyday but he is half competant and slightly better than Alberto,
      Wouldn't you say?

Think that guy is talking out his arse. Wasn't it denied last summer that we were interested in him? There's also been no link to him from anyone reliable this summer.

when have we ever been that assured in a position like that? we spend extremely cautiously and have for years, i can't see us buying a LB for similar cost with similar wages to Moreno unless we move him on. won't do Moreno much good playing off the bench instead of playing consistent footy either. i guess there's still time to sell...

You're talking as though Moreno cost us 30m or something. £12m in football terms if next to nothing. It won't do us much good in the league if Moreno is playing consistently.

Agreed Skip, think this lad would be a top signing for us, although with Chilwell seemingly refusing to sign a contract extension at Leicester there may be some movement there. I don't know how much training compensation they'd be due if he saw out his contract but £7m might be looking a bit more appealing now.

It seems counterintuitive (and strange) that the German international should only be "in the frame" because of a "fading opportunity" with Chilwell MIRO.

Given the choice, I'd have looked at it the other way 'round and tried to sign the German international before the kid... IF  I was looking to upgrade on Moreno, of course.

Agree Mouse although it appears Jürgen is happy with Alberto and was looking for a back up for him.

Personally I'd much preferred if we got Hector and then seen if Moreno was up for the fight for his place in the side.

I was interested in watching Hector and Guerreiro during the Euros but I must admit I wasn't very impressed with either of them. I'm not a fan of Moreno either, so I'm just not very excited about LBs this season I guess haha

I guess time will tell Si.

If he's happy with Moreno and only looking for back up then Jürgen will probably sign Chilwell or a player like him.

If he's unhappy then logic dictates that he would go 'ready-made' for a replacement - Hector or a player like him.

It's valid to ask: what scenario would make the team stronger - Moreno & Chilwell or Hector & Moreno. In my opinion, (and like you) I'd go Hector & Moreno.

Truth is; we could comfortably afford both Chilwell and Hector should Jürgen be inclined.  :P
