Now Liverpool and Dortmund charged by UEFA
      Apr 08, 2016 04:25:59 pm
It appears they are now charging us with setting off fireworks during the Dortmund game! Dortmund are also being charged for blocking  stairwells.
Everyone has been talking about the wonderful atmosphere, the fantastic rendition of YNWA by both sets of fans and a game played in the right spirit! Yet good old UEFA had to find something, anything to complain about. Football has many problems, from ticket prices to player power, but the biggest problem facing the game is UEFA andFIFA!

Never mind the Italians or Turks etc running amok, slashing everyone. Silly songs and smoke is the big no-no to UEFA.

Good old UEFA, personally cannot for the life of me the obsession with flares etc but they really showed themselves up this week in their little ivory tower at uefa headquarters when having fined barcelona for fans displaying the catalan flag they then insisted both barcelona and atletico madrid wear their away kit to avoid a clash, and hey presto barcelona wear their away kit which just happens to be the colour of the catalan flag. Really couldn't make it up...

It's a pity EUFA and Fifa don't spend their time and money cleaning up their own organisations from the corruption they are riddled with. It's time the clubs took back the power from these money grabbing  associations.

We've got done for the flares again, for the third game in a row. It's got to stop. Flares are banned everywhere for reasons we're all well aware of, so we have no defence at all if we're reported for them. If persistent, the punishments can lead to away game bans and/or ground closures. So let's make sure it doesn't get that far.

People who don't understand why UEFA come down hard on flares is the only thing surprising. I shouldn't have to explain why flares don't belong in football stadiums so I won't.

In fairness, that Juventus photo is at least several years old, and going by the ads in the photo, several years further back than that. It's all neon LED adverts these days. Can't say I like it very much, but even we cottoned onto the modern craze in 2008.

Anyway, none of this changes the fact that flares are banned, full stop. I just hope we get away with a fine, like we did the last time circa 10 years ago, and stick to waving flags around rather than flares in the future.

      More crap  ...

      Just In      Monday PM

Liverpool are in more trouble with Uefa after European football's governing body charged them with a fireworks offence.

The disciplinary charge came after a flare was thrown on to the pitch following last week's Europa League win over Borussia Dortmund.

The Reds were already facing charges relating to fireworks offences and crowd disturbances in earlier rounds.

A Uefa disciplinary panel will look at the charges on 19 May.

The flare was thrown after Dejan Lovren's injury-time header saw the Reds beat Dortmund 5-4 on aggregate to book a semi-final against Spain's Villarreal.

The Premier League club were also charged for illicit chanting, throwing objects and crowd disturbances, as well as further firework offences, following their last-16 victory over rivals Manchester United.

And they received another charge after the quarter-final first leg in Dortmund for away fans allegedly blocking stairways.

Liverpool's case will be heard by Uefa's control, ethics and disciplinary body on the day after the Europa League final in Basel.

If people don't stop using Flares, so goodbye to those big Anfield nights. Our games will be closed behind doors if it carries on. I wouldn't be surprised to see us win the Europa league but get suspended from next seasons European competition if it happens in any more away games. People need to realize how dangerous flares are.

I'm not a person to piss on anyone's parade, but seeing as a I have a background in pyrotechnics, flares depending on the variety (road flares for instance) are extremely dangerous and not to mention toxic. I'm all for a little bit of good fun, but the first time someone's injured from one, the tides against them will turn heavily. I personally wouldn't take my kids to a match where that was prevalent.

To me it's a bit silly anyway...why would you want to use something that will obscure your view of the game that is so important for you to watch?

I'd be pretty pissed if I was trying to watch a game but couldn't see through the smoke and light.

I don't get why the fan(s) took them to the game and used them anyway after the club got charged the first time around. I'm all for an atmosphere and stuff but piss about with them outside the ground so that the club don't get punished again. UEFA could come down on us with any punishment they wanted if this keeps up.

I don't get why the club wouldn't be coming out with a statement to the fans to tell them not to bring them to the games if they're going to be continuously punished for random sh*t.

They have done via the Supporters committee mate.  Basically asked them to spread the word not to use them as the sanctions could end up worse than a slap on the wrist and a fine.

Can't understand it when we missed out on years of European footy when they banned us and all English Clubs after Heysel, we of all Clubs should know that we'll bear the brunt of it even if it's widespread around European leagues.

I don't think that's enough IMO. Not everybody is going to see something from a supporters committee. The offal would be more appropriate to spread the word. Would just be our luck if we keep doing it, somehow win the Europa and then get banned next season because some tools can't use common sense.
