Grujic, Zielinski, Dahoud, Dozzell, etc. all being linked now.

Maybe just sign Gundogan first, who should be pretty cheap as he's into the last year of his contract in the summer and then worry about which prospects to sign later.

Hes proven? in what world is he proven? he has played about 40 league games ever and started probably about 30.

Jordan Ibe has played about the same amount of games as him and he is still wet behind the ear.

anyone who we get linked with seem to (after the link has been made) have an fantastic season.

£20 mill for him would be criminal

To me and you it's just peanuts, but it might take Wellbuilt the best part of a year to earn that kind of money. :)

Honigstein: I believe 100 per cent that Klopp would love to sign him. the whole Bundesliga is after him

Honigstein: fantastic player. I get the feeling Gladbach will only sell Xhaka though

Honigstein: Dahoud will be a superstar in five years time, imo. everyone in the Bundesliga thinks so. 20m now could be 40m in two years...

i have not watched him at any level to give a detailed report. but i have watched football and liverpool in particular to know that spending a large chunk of money on unproven kids has more cons that pros.

Ali came with more 'hype' around him and went for a reasonable fee for such unproven talent.

So why the F**k are you getting involved in how much he's worth?! You haven't a Scooby Doo.

Think back to what £40m used to get you. I remember loads of people laughing at Liverpool fans for valuing Gerrard at around 40-50m in his prime and now according to Honigstein Dahoud could be worth that in 2 years even though he predicts him to become a superstar in FIVE years :D

I agree that the inflation of football prices has been ridiculous. You certainly can't judge £20m today anywhere near what it was even 3 or 4 years ago.

I have no idea if this lad will be a superstar but to be just 20 years old and playing as often as he does already for Gladbach does seem to suggest there's huge talent there.

Say one thing, this is the first Syrian player I can ever remember us being linked with!

Oh Christ, not that f**king cliche 'proven talent' again by those

I don't have a clue about the guy but if Jürgen wants him and sees great potential in him (as he has done with many of his signings in the past), then I can only trust the guy. After all, he's the man with two Bundesliga titles, a German Cup and a CL finalist all achieved within the relative constraints he was operating at Dortmund. I always find it funny when supporters think they know better than the manager, not least one with a proven track record of success at the highest level. Imagine if that was the way in other areas in life? I mean who the f**k would tell Jonny Marr how to play guitar?

He's played 37 games this season in what is a decent Gladbach side and he's had a very good season. The Ibe comparison doesn't work at all, considering Ibe hasn't put together a good season yet.

Funnily enough we don't usually go after players who aren't having fantastic seasons unless we're after a reject from a top club. That's how most clubs operate. Even neutrals like Honigstein are saying this lad is class, so it's hardly just Liverpool supporters praising him.

gladbach having a decent season? how?

we have gone for players who have had a 'so called' good season for fun then wonder why they are not setting the world alight when they get here and then want to sell (or loan them out season after season) for a fraction of the price we paid

Does this even make sense?  I don't get your point.

You want us to buy better players but for less money?  How does that work then?

Or you'd prefer us to buy some of those players on the list who have now had a good season (btw only 3 of them would improve us) but would cost double what this kid is going for?

Or do you mean we should be scouting the lower leagues/divisions to bring in unheard of players like Alberto, Ilori, Aspas, who collectively cost around the same as this kid, and hope they come good like those you've listed?

It's always interesting to discuss potential targets from around the world... before we eventually settle for someone from Southampton. :)

What about Bundesliga proven; would we settle for that?

Every transfer is a gamble but you can increase your chances of backing a winner by betting the short priced favourites. Yeah mug punters will tell you that a football team at 10/1 will and has beaten a 1/5 shot in the past but the real truth is - the team at 1/5 (or smaller) is beaten in only 2.5% of all games.

Your kids; your 'worth a gambles'; your cheap n cheerful; your easily paid and your 'with potentials' are the 10/1 shots... spectacular when they click but you'll be betting on a sh*t load of them, for little return.

I guess it depends what your objectives are - holding on to your initial stake (investment) or actually wanting to win.  :-\

Got to admit out of Zielinski and this lad then I would prefer Mahmoud, mainly because his first name rhymes with his last name.................obv iously  I jest.

But seriously this lad looks like the next big thing from Germany, he would be the perfect foil for a more defensive Can.
Imagine him with all the defensive attributes of Kante but the creativity moving forward of Gundogan.

He seems to be Dortmunds No 1 priority to replace Gundogan if he moves to City.

The worry is, Nordtveit has already joined West Ham and Xhaka is London for talks with Arsenal. I doubt if they'll even encourage a bid.

If they do, I hope we do put in a serious bid!
