For all the hand ball shouts why wasn't there no shouts for theiir player controlling the ball with his hand/arm for their goal? Am I imagining that happening?

our defending is shocking. we invite pressure and are slow to react

good win, especially with all the changes.

poor finishing and too lazy in the 2nd half

Joe Allen MOTM for me. Closely followed by Sturridge, Ojo and Ibe. Special mention to Danny Ward as well, who has done little wrong today.

Agree with that mate, apart from flapping at the end there Ward was very good.

Good win considering the rotation but to be honest we should have been out of sight before they had a chance to nick a draw at the end.

Ojo is clearly one that is going to excite us, Sturridge looking the best we've seen in ages. The worries being Firmino and Lucas who I thought neither looked properly at the races.

Smith wasn't as good as he has been either, industrious but just not enough quality and it has to be said similar of Stewart who would be a major worry if he was starting in the EL.

Yep, looking at the starting line up before the match, everyone would have taken that result and performance.

The inexperience was tested in the second half, and it doesn't help that these lads are not the full article in terms of physicality and stamina yet (as any young inexperienced player is) so they were always going to come under pressure at one stage. They dealt with it fine and will only improve in time with Jürgen and experience.

we were very very lucky to leave with three points today.  our side really shut off in the second half.  as if they didnt see what happened to dortmund just a few days ago

however. that said. well done to the lads.  especially the youngins

That was more nervy in the second half than it should have been, we have to become more clinical in fornt of goal, but considering it was more or less our B team I thought it was an excellent performance.

Just saw that west Ham managed to snatch a draw form the jaws of victory as well, all in all a very good weekend of footy, just wish the villains had managed to hold Manure to a draw.

Not clever that by Lucas. Usually can be dependable in the air but why on earth was he stepping out like that? So nearly costing us. Painfully slow on the ground at times throughout the match as well. How viable an option is he in the long term? Does he go in the summer even? Ruined Ward's almost perfect debut that did.

Some excellent work by most of the guys though and a professional job up until that point. Allen my MOTM. Didn't seem to put a foot wrong.

Still would have snatched 2-1 all day regardless of which team but ESPECIALLY with that makeshift side today.

Thought Allen had a great game, Ojo did well but don't think Ibe did quite enough. Ward did well until near the end and Smith got forward well but needs to learn how to defend.

Thought Lucas had a mixed game, did some good things but got exposed on too many occasions.

Ward has a good game too and is certainly looking an option.. but poor Fed will have a sleepless night after watching him flap at and miss a corner and later on conceding too. Absolutely devastating for Fed.

Lucas totally misjudging that, should never have that time in and around the box.

Lucas has to go. He has no pace, fouls continuously and has no vision. Yaya as his replacement.

Problem with Lucas is he always takes a few games to warm up, I think if he's not playing regularly he's not quite as reliable. As you say it was odd for that mistake on their goal as he's usually one of our better headers of the ball.

Their goalkeeper made Ward look world class.

There's going to be some very sore legs for those young lads tomorrow and there'll be no let up for them over the coming weeks.

All in all a good result which should and could have been many more goals scored but at this stage of the season it's points that matter.
