Michael Owen appointed International ambassador for Liverpool FC

A baffling appointment all round - surely an ambassador should have more loyalty and show more affinity to the thing he is promoting. Ickle Mick does none of that.

Truth is; I probably wouldn't have blinked an eye if it had been announced that he had been appointed International ambassador for Man Utd.

How can 'they' not see this? Truly baffling.

He should stick with the geegee's , he has more in common with them .

My problem isn't even him playing for man u or even his continuous adulations about slurgison. It's that he shows absolute contempt for the place he became the player he was and only ever was because he didn't go on to do much else.
He's became a foe of Liverpool to me solely on the reading between the lines (it's mostly blatant) every time I happen to hear him commentate or talk about Liverpool.
I haven't forgot how brilliant a player he was but he took it upon himself to constantly be so disrespectful to his rise to fortune and fame and also footballing prowess.
Words kind of escape me on him getting any role working for the club, I'm still unsure what role he's been given.

The very fact that people are prepared to take this story seriously Billy gives an insight into the chasm that exists between the owners and the supporters.

Nothing more to it than that. Bizarre how it has reached three pages! At the end of the day he's just a market tool to those fans in the Far East who probably don't harbour the same sort disbelief at the idea that he went on and played for Manchester United. It's not as if he's going to be turning up in local schools in and around L4 banging a drum and singing Poor Scouser Tommy. But hey, I might be wrong!

The sad thing about this Micky Owen farce is that there are so many ex L.F.C.players who would hold the position of club ambassador with pride and dignity.I am on about players who know what this club is all about,unlike Micky who sh*t on us 3 times,i.e. Real Madrid,Newcastle and Manure.The best thing Fenway can do is invite Micky Owen to Boston and do what they did to Kenny a.s.a.p.
