Michael Owen is a huge fan of....Michael Owen and this just smacks of someone sticking two fingers up to the fan base. It has Ayre written all over this. IF he considers himself a fan and an Ambassador why not take a seat up in the Kop or pop in to one of the locals before a game I am sure he will get a warm welcome

Really strange one. Appointing as ambassador for the club somebody most of the fans can't stand. Why?

"How can we make ourselves look as out of touch as possible, Ian?"
      " Well, John ..."

Come to think of it, nobody likes Michael Owen.

I think their criteria must have been - he's on TV, and he probably wont get arrested on drugs charges. I think that literally is it.

This is a wind up yeah?...

Don't get me wrong, his goals to win us the FA cup in Cardiff I will never forget but he sold his soul to that f**kin big red devil down the road and that I can never forgive him for.

      Ayres swan song appointment...

      He's a jinx!

Yes, and I didn't mention his words after winning PL with Manchester:

As they say, if you can’t beat them, join them. I won a lot of trophies with Liverpool but to win the Premier League is the pinnacle of anyone’s career. I’m very proud today. I’m really pleased and proud to have played with a great crop of lads and obviously the manager’s second to none.

Exactly, what does this appointment mean? and what is his role
and why is he the 1st as the article says
wasn't  king Kenny  appointed ambassador back in 2013>>>> from the mail ...Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish will make another emotional return to Anfield - in an ambassadorial role. Dalglish met the club's managing director, Ian Ayre, last week to discuss his return and to define his role.
maybe micky is going to be selling scarfs and banners before games for commercial events
Just hope this will not damage the good momentum of the fans towards the manager/players and so club

      What The F**k !

Traitor Little Mickey O been made ambassador. ?!?!

No little f**ker slime bag that played for the Scum and helped Ferguson have a jerk off dream on it should be anywhere near Anfield.

On the appointment, he said: “As a Liverpool fan I am honoured and delighted to have been asked to play this international role for the club.

      A Liverpool fan ?
      The man has no shame.

I suppose he sent the board a dossier and CV.

Sure Billy The Red will have a few choice words .

Your f***in bang on mate, I'm f***in livid, which f***in dipshit at Anfield thought this was a good appointment, that kunt shouldn't be anywhere near Anfield.

"As a fan of Liverpool I'm honoured"
You weren't very honoured when you signed for f***in Scumchester utd you two faced little kunt,

Ffs this isn't right, are they saying that that f**ker will have more respect than say a John Barnes,  around the globe,  me thinks not,
Whoever appointed this or whoever sanctioned this has very little or no idea how Liverpool fans feel about him, this is a joke of a appointment and should be rescinded immediately

Liverpool are great aren't they.  Let us bask in a derby win? Nah.  Let's just throw this one into the mix.

      Farcical choice in my opinion.

What???  This is the same Owen who blamed Liverpool for his injuries, blamed Liverpool for his failure at Madrid, has said he hated his final years at Liverpool and then will go out of his way to praise Ferguson and the Scum.
Owen was a Liverpool icon and was considered one of the greatest Liverpool players of all time.  I remember watching him and it was like watching Messi. He epitomized "Poetry in Motion". But his anti Liverpool rhetoric on top of his incessant  praise for Ferguson over the last few years has turned me against him. Hes not long for the position though. As soon as Stevie G retires and comes back hell be the Ambassador.

If they send him on his ambassadorial roles, out of the country, when he is meant to be commentating for BT, it's a win-win situation, isn't it?

Is Michael Owen like Darth Vader where he goes from good, to bad and back to good again? I think he watches too much Star Wars.

They could have picked so many former Liverpool players for this role, how did they end up with Owen... Hardly the person we want representing the club? A player who felt he was bigger than the club, left and failed and the moved to Man Utd? Tbh they would have struggled to have found a worse ambassador so this club

It's a really stupid appointment and the club should have realised how supporters would react before making the appointment. Did they really think Owen would be welcomed back with open arms? I don't dislike Owen anymore, at this point I'm just indifferent towards him.

Also, I think he's a decent enough pundit. He was seriously bad when he first started, but I think he's improved quite a bit.
