      Never heard of him.

Weird thing to say I'm sure but he sounds dead hard.

I can confirm that he has a quiff. I'm sure two of his saves on this are down to the Brylcream.

The tendency to punch must be something that younger keepers do, we need to get rid of the keeper coach before we poison another keeper.

I think that keepers on the continent tend punch the ball more.

Anyway, I've watched Karius for most of his career, he's a German under 21 goalkeeper who wears gloves - very good prospect indeedy.

I am slightly confused, wiki changed his height 3 times, first 1.87m, then 1.93m and now, 1.89m.... so how tall is he?

Depends on what heels he's wearing mate!  :f_tongueincheek:

Impressive match he had there, love how he seems always on his toes anticipating attacks. Personally not too bothered about keepers punching as long as they get decent distance on it. I saw posted that his punching success is at 88%, I'm not sure if the 12% is completely misses them or that they don't achieve a certain range (like outside of the box) but even still that's not too bad.

He certainly looks like he likes to start fast attacks, the moment he collects the ball he's on the move and out to distribute, also looks pretty damn assured with his feet.

Would be too much to compare him to a Neuer on the basis of watching the highlights of one match but there are definitely similarities in his play style. When I heard he was so young and so cheap I was a little skeptical, much more confident after watching that, cheers.

Can't see him being first choice anyway. Word is the club want to loan out Danny Ward again (after inexplicably recalling him) so it's gonna be him and Mignolet fighting for number 1 spot. You don't normally give a new contract to a keeper then let him warm the bench for the next 4 seasons.

One positive of having a German keeper though...if they wanna get anywhere near starting for Germany then they have to outplay Neuer!

1.89m. At least that's what TransferMarkt says.

Seems quite good at saving spot kicks.

Not a bad deal by the sounds of it though.

Looks a good keeper, but I would rather just put this in our goal.

I like that he stands up until the shots been hit instead of anticipating where the shots going and getting it completely wrong.

From that video it looks like he takes control of his box well and his diving saves are good, however there are times he should have caught it and it pinged off him back into potentially dangerous areas. I certainly think 4.5m is about right for him because he looks to have great potential.

He seems very quick across the goal line on penalties, good old spring on him.

You could make an amazing youtube video of Mignolet and his saves too...

I agree with you but some videos show flaws as well, like the game videos where everything that the player did is shown.

I think we all should wait and see how good he is after a couple of games with us.

Is it possible that Migs could still be regarded as our No.1 and if he fucks up royally which he is likely to do then this lad gets his go?

I'm thinking it will be like the initial Mignolet signing.

He will be brought in to provide "competition" - that will be the party line.

But clearly Reina was being told he wasn't #1. I think Karius will be assured he will be given the chances and probably told he will start the season in goals, maybe Mignolet can claw back his position and maybe he'll get the hint and leave at the end of the season.

But if you look at from the point of view of Karius, why would one of the Bundesliga's best young keepers come here if he isn't given assurances he will be starting goakeeper.

I watched this game live in german tv and couldn't believe, that the ball wasn't in the back of the net at 1:06! He is unbelievable fast for a Goalkeeper and I like the way he anticipates what will happen...
