Simple enough little thread. Just talk about what game you're playing at the moment and your thoughts on it.

I've just finished playing 'Ori and the Blind Forrest' on XboxOne, absolutely outstanding little game.

Plaque Inc. Evolved = I'm sure some of you would've heard or played it already but it's a weird strategy game on Steam where you have to build a disease to wipe out the world. Surprisingly addicting and it's been a while since it's come out but i'm still playing it.

If you like games that make you think and strategy based this is up your ally.

I'll play some Battlefront with my boys on Xbox One. Really an amazing game. Also kind of dig Rocket League.

Took me until I was a good 500 hours into Counter Strike 1.6 before I was anywhere near decent, and I've got 3000+ hours on Source and still would only say I'm around average, have really good games and bad games. Currently close to 800 hours on Global Offensive and I've taken to this one a little quicker, still prone to god awful games though, you gotta be totally into the game at that moment or no chance.

Picked up a copy of Doom. Very excited

For non serious fast paced fun it's awesome! Loved it!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The core gameplay of MGSV is excellent, but I find this one a bit dull and repetitive, and the story is pretty boring too. It's still a good game, but it's not as enjoyable as the other 4 MGS games.

This is me, if there's one game I could choose to be amazing at it'd be this.

Love the look of this game, looks like loads of fun. Payday purchase for me perhaps.

To answer the title of this thread though, I find myself in a loop of NBA 2K16, FIFA and Rocket League. Anything where I don't need game sound as I'm too in to my music right now.

Still have Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 to get through, just need to be in the mood to sit and play them.

Used to play Hearthstone a lot but I've lost a lot of interest as too many expansions have broken the game IMO.

As I have eluded to in a few threads in this board I am very much a casual gamer, no interest in online play or DLC, just something I can pick up and play for an hour or two to chill out.

I picked up Rise Of The Tomb Raider the other day and I am loving it! The gameplay, the story, the graphics everything ticks the boxes for me. Thoroughly enjoying it, loved the first three Tomb Raider games on PS1 but this doesn't rely on any of that, as a stand alone it is fantastic. Anyone else played it?

Agree TRM, great gameplay but little mission variety and not much substance to the story.

I currently have an endless steam library to get through, and yet whenever I get time to play something the past few weeks I've been unable to click anything but Rocket League. If you haven't heard of it its basically that Top Gear episode with the car football turned up to 11, and its bloody awesome.

Same! I worked out my Steam play amount the other day and it's shocking! I haven't played 53% of my games owned (115 not touched) so I doubt that's happening before I die..... damn Steam sales! xD

On topic though, currently playing Deus Ex Human Revolution before I pick up Mankind Divided.... while playing the usual Counter Strike GO, Overwatch etc..

Just got Batman: The Telltale Series. Already hooked, something new and refreshing (obviously my first time playing a Telltale game). I like the way it's released in episodes, although I am already waiting anxiously for episode two! :P

Anyone else play any of the Telltale games, I would be keen to get another one or two if they're all as gripping as this.

Just turned Level 25, save up 60 Pidgeys, get 720 candies, activate lucky egg and evolve like crazy.

Since my concussion, I've not been able to cycle or use the gym, on Doctor's orders, so walking with this has become a way of still exercising.

Whilst not a Telltale game and not having played the Batman game, a couple of friends have said it has echoes of Discworld Noir, a game I still adore.

A question if anyone can help? I bought Batman: The Telltale Series, which gives me the season pass for when each episode comes out. Episode 2 was released yesterday and when I go to download it, it asks me to pay £5.19 for it. In the game it says "Purchased, not downloaded" but when it redirects me to the Xbox store it tries to charge me for the episode.

Anyone know how to deal with this?

Never mind... Turns out its an issue with Telltale Games...

Xbox One: I have the Season Pass Disc but Episode 2 is showing for purchase

We are aware of an issue where Episode 2 is not showing as available for free for Season Pass Disc owners. We are currently investigating the root cause of this, and we hope to have more information soon. When we do, we will update this article.

We thank you for your patience as we look into this issue, and we apologize for the inconvenience this causes.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm terrible at replying on here, I don't know how to keep track of it.
It is repetitive no doubt about that but there is enough there to keep me going. I'm a kleptomaniac in games so I like Fulton everything and interrogating everyone.
In Fallout New Vegas I knew I had a problem when I was sidetracked constantly rummaging through bins lmao.

I love MGS like you, there are still a couple I haven't played. I''ll play them on an emulator at some point.

I only got it because I saw it for £40 on CDKeys. No way was I paying 60 odd for the Infinite Warfare too just to play this. MW1 & 2 were boss, the only ones I was good at. Got a bit daft the way Call of Duty has gone now.

      Finished a few recently, got proper stuck into my backlog;

Resident Evil 7 - Series back to its best! Absolutely loved it! 9/10

Horizon Zero Dawn - Amazing exclusive, and just stunning! Some of the quests were a bit samey though and the story dribbled on a bit at the end... 8/10

Ghost Recon Wildlands - Titally took me by surprise this, after The Division I didn't give this much hope but it takes everything good from The Division and makes it a real enjoyable game! This is what The Dividion should have been... 8/10

Prey - Absolute dogshite of a game! The enemies are uninspired, the difficulty is unnecessarily hard, and missions consist of running from one side of the map to the other straight past enemies because there is nowhere near enough resources in the game to tackle them when they are bullet sponges.... 4/10, if that.

Injustice 2 - I really enjoyed the first one so was looking forward to this, and it was just as good! The story is your typical hero one but still good! Some great visuals and nice controls, only bug I had is it seemed to punish you for playing well... if you're doing too well felt it kinda let the other character get back into the fight... 7/10

Mass Effect Andromeda - Git nothing on the others but still a fun spacey rpg you can stick some hours into, didn't nearly connect with the characters as much as I did with the first games... 7/10

Now onto Halo Wars 2 :D

Horizon ZD is possibly my favourite of the year, not quite finished it yet but that's only because I like messing around doing everything else first. Such a great game IMO and a great example of these open world Ubisoft style games done well. Interesting to hear you didn't like Prey, heard decent things.

Was late to the Witcher 3 party, but it's amazing!

Got the expansion packs yet Mags? Both are excellent but Blood and Wine is set in an entirely new area which is awesome. DLC done right.

Yeah I expected great things from Prey and the first 30 mins were great! But it soon turned to garbage, I've never wanted a game to end as much as I have with this one.... I'm into difficult games, the Dark Souls series being some of my favourite games, but this was just a piss take, it wasn't so much hard, just so unbalanced in the gameplay... every enemy is a black blob, seriously, every enemy looks the same, every enemy takes tonnes of bullets to kill, and there is few, and I mean few, bullets in the entire map... and it only takes a couple of hits for you to die.... so if your in anything more than a 1v2 your better off just sprinting past the enemies, which makes it such a bore... possibly the worst game I've played in many a year, and I pretty much play every game released :(

I got a SNES classic for Christmas and I have been playing all the classics I use to play when I was a teenager (Mario Kart, Zelda, Earthbound, FF3). It is worth the money to get one of those little systems if you can get your hands on it and enjoy playing retro games.

Played on one of those re released Mega Drives classics last year and it still very much has the charm as I'm sure the SNES classic has. That said, it's best played on smaller screens as it was slightly jarring playing it on the big hd tv!

Played CoD WW2 over Christmas. Entertaining game but the campaign somewhat lacked that the story arc/Spielbergean feel that made the original WW2 first person shooters like the early CoD's or Medal of Honor so rewarding. Never really felt that you were taking part in something as significant as the overthrow of the Nazi's. Also, the tendency for the game to move to a cut scene at the climax of a level was quite irritating.

Yeah it has a charm to it and they are pretty easy to MOD to add more games to it so I am looking forward to trying that once I finish the games that are already on it. I agree on the WW2 campaign, i just find it find it so short and I know they focus a lot on the online play. I got WW2 after not getting the last couple of releases because it was turning into Halo/Destiny type game with the weapons and flying around. I enjoy the game and comeback to the basics in weapons and game play.

Yeah - not having any of that futuristic nonsense either. Either modern warfare or before, preferably World War 2. That's my preference. Agreed that the campaign felt a little short as well. So much more they could have done with it. Hopefully we'll get more games retracing World War 2.

      Finished Horizon Zero Dawn.

      Late to it, I know.
      Got it on sale.

Did all the side missions, Cauldrons, errands, before completing the main story.
All in about 70 hours of quality game time. Found the last few main missions I kept expecting each one to be the last.
Which made it kind of drag near the end. Plus I'd got the ancient armour by the time I did the final mission so I was nearly
      invincible at that stage.

Great game and story. Enjoyed strolling around taking down machines as much as the main story itself.
A world ahead of what Andromeda was. Definitely one of the top games of 2017.

Nice twist at the end to line up a second game.
Some playing parts that annoyed me. Like not being able to swap shoulder view for taking out enemies,
but otherwise a great and enjoyable game.

Glad you liked it mate, I've uninstalled to make space for other stuff recently but thought it was brilliant. Gameplay wise just very very fun. Not bought Frozen Wilds or whatever the DLC is called yet but may grab it on sale in the future. Looks like more of the same really, which can't be bad.

I'm trying to finish some games before the 2018 release schedule really kicks off. I've already been tempted by Monster Hunter World, but really need to finish both Witcher 3 expansions before diving into yet another time consuming RPG. Also bought X-Com 2 on sale over January, played the first one to death on PC and loved it. It's a turn based strategy game that follows the events of the first one, after an alien race has invaded and conquered earth and now runs the world through a proxy global government. You lead a human guerrilla movement and it is possibly the most masochistic game out there. Your actions during missions are governed by RNG (random number generator), which throws up some unlikely scenarios as your highly trained military operative wildly fires wide of the alien they were standing right next to. Only really had time for a couple of hours gaming on the weekend recently so the back catalogue is taking over...

I’m currently playing Origins, took me a while to get into it because the combat is completely changed and quite hard to get used to but I think I’ve got it down now... and enjoying the game too now.

A LOT of NBA 2K18 lately. Been hard pressed to find me consistently on any other sports game besides FIFA probably for the last decade, but finally invested some time into the MyCareer part of it and I'm loving it. Living the dream of being a menacing post up player dropping 30/15 double doubles on the regular, Portland hero, all that jazz :D

Made the mistake of introducing my almost 6 year old into Minecraft a couple of weeks back.  Don't think I've had a conversation with him that hasn't been about it since.

He hasn't got a console because I think he's too young for that level of involvement so it's just on a tablet or the PI, but it obviously means I've got to play on my phone and 'join in'.  Next thing is he's watching tutorials on how to build all sorts.  Digital Lego!

Recently been putting together a little bit of a gaming/nerd setup... this is it so far...

Superb stuff!  Looks great that - I dream of having my own cave!

Haha, just don't have anymore kids, otherwise the man cave will be turned into a kids bedroom/playroom... I know this from bloody experience :(

Finish AC syndicate (really enjoyed the game) so now got some of the DLC for Final Fantasy 15 (Gladious, Prompto and Ignis episodes). Hoping it is enjoyable way to kill a few hours

Just started Assassins Creed Origins. Didn’t like the last one too much. This seems better so far.

Rocket League for 2 years now. Love it!

Sorry to quote an old post - do you still play?

Hi mate sorry only just seen this.

I've fallen out of it recently with a few other games taking up what little gaming time I have at the moment, but I think I've got you on PSN so if I see you playing maybe I'll jump in! Unless you're playing on PC/Xbox?

It is damn addictive once you get into it!

I’m currently playing Origins, took me a while to get into it because the combat is completely changed and quite hard to get used to but I think I’ve got it down now... and enjoying the game too now.

Recently been putting together a little bit of a gaming/nerd setup... this is it so far...

Far too much time on my hands  :lmao:
Great set up that mate, spied an N64 in your picture ( great console ) and still use mine.

I just dragged out my old PS3 and decided to break out Fallout New Vegas. I never bet all the endings and I bought all the DLC for the game to play through as well. Always enjoyed NV more than FO3 or FO4

Superb stuff!  Looks great that - I dream of having my own cave!
It's not so bad. Minecraft has a Pegi 7. My son was playing it around 3. He's 6 now and he's finished Legend of Zelda breath of the wild on his own. I don't think it is any more harmful for a 6 year old than a 30 year old. It has puzzles which help problem solving abilities and it has been proven that games improve reaction times without loss of accuracy. My opinion as long as it is in moderation it is actually an educational thing. As long as it is not crime or gore such as grand theft auto, resident evil or Mortal Kombat etc... I think it is fine. The tutorials are very annoying, I literally banned them until I got my son a pair of children's headphones.

Started playing God of War. Haven’t played games in about 2 and a half years now because didn’t have a console and finally could afford one again.

Holy sh*t, how I’ve missed it. God of war starts brilliantly, hope it continues down the same path.

I started the Last of Us a couple of years back but never finished it which is criminal given how crazy people are about it. I've always been meaning to get back to it and it's on my bucket list of things to do 'at home'.

As for the Uncharted series? If Uncharted 1 is already one of your favourite games ever then you're in for a real treat. The first one is brilliant but having recently played 2 and 3 once again I have to say they blow the first one out of the water. Number 4 is stupendous as well - played it at the start of last year and it's maybe a bit darker/personal than the previous installments but no less captivating and thrilling. If push came to shove I'd say number 2 is the greatest of them all, purely because it set the standards for the next two games, which in fairness, they matched. Great characters and most importantly stunning set pieces and settings, especially the Himalayas. A game you could play over and over again.

mannnn!!! you should definitely play it.

I have it on my console and so far put around 50 hrs on it! :D

It's a lot of fun and the side quests are not repetitive as the previous ones as you can have different options on how you want to finish your mission

Those Red Dead Redemption 2 reviews are extraordinary but nothing less than I would expect. Already read a few calling it Rockstar's best game ever! Been waiting 8 years for this one and it looks like it isn't going to disappoint. Will be a while before I get my hands on it but get my hands on it I will.

Some gamers are looking to boycott the game because of the 'crunch' scandal at Rockstar Games, like overworking your employees for a 100 hours in a week and making them work on weekends.

      nevertheless, I'm buying the game!

That just sounds like any video game company approaching release date. It's known to be the crunch period where everyone is overworked. Thought it was just an accepted part of the business but don't know about anything specifically to do with RDR2?

Anyway picked up my  copy at lunch, will have a few hours this evening hopefully. Deliberately avoided gameplay trailers but having seen a bit of stuff today it looks amazing...

Most the games I've bought have probably been done under labour intensive stresses. It is, as artaylor said, part of the industry. A boycott is ridiculous - the game looks like a masterpiece and I hope all those that worked on it get rewarded handsomely.
