We were going for a World Class player. Let me repeat that so it sinks in. We were going for a World Class player.

And it appears he did not want to come...so either trust that the manager knows what he is doing or don't.

Tell me how many WORLD CLASS PLAYERS want to be involved in the project?

No CL, a team that finished 8th in the league and you make it sound like there are dozens of WORLD CLASS PLAYERS...beating down our door.

Bigger quote from that article is this:

      Quote
ā€œThere are people who say that if you donā€™t clearly set yourself big goals then youā€™re not really ambitious,ā€ he said. ā€œThose people have no idea how to attain goals.ā€

ie...it's a process to get there

I really don't think people should lose their sh*t over links

There will be plenty in the next few months

Might be something in it, might not... Might get him, I highly doubt he will be here though because once Southampton give us the price they will want we won't proceed ( if we are interested which who the f**k knows)

There's weeks of this ahead... Chill

      I know. Why exhaust ourselves?

There's over three months to go. There is NOTHING to talk about!

      Who's linking us with him?

On topic. One of the committee lads has got to be hanging out of some fitty in Southampton behind his wife's back.

      Edit: I started Dahoud's thread :D

Or maybe, and I know this might be a wild theory, they just produce or buy very good footballers who then other teams like us get interested in.

Just so you're ahead of the curve AZ the criteria is:

      Success = JĆ¼rgen's

      Failure = Committee's.

Wouldn't want any hypocrisy or inconsistency to filter through into transfers :D

I think we both did buddy.

I recall saying that JĆ¼rgen will work a lot closer to FSG's model than was comfortable for many.

      Robert Lewandowski  ā‚¬4,500,000

      Lukasz Piszczek   Free
      Marco Reus   ā‚¬14,000,000 (Biggest Transfer)

Get used to it, again ad nausea this manager has never gone out and done the "Buy World Class" routine. Yes because of his relationship with Gotze (He probably knows him better than anyone) we would pay more than he normally would..but that is not what this manager is about...he is about the team and building it.

      Trust the manager.

You are bang on here mate, most f us are hoping for proven quality but we've got a gaffer who has never been in the position before to go out and buy it. Given we only need a smallish squad next season I suspect he will not even spend the full transfer kitty this summer. FSG must be creaming their collective Y-Fronts.

Mane is valued at Ā£25 million, and the Reds will vie with both Man United and Tottenham Hotspur to secure his services.

Klopp is chasing a forward able to subscribe to his high-intensity attacking ideals, and Mane is seen as capable of operating in his current system.

Mane finished the 2015/16 campaign as Southamptonā€™s top goalscorer, with 15 goals in 43 games in all competitions, and is capable of operating in a variety of roles in attack.

Most comfortable on the right wing, however, it seems that Klopp is looking for a forward to complement current first-choice attackers Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

Mane joined the Saints from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014, after the Reds famously turned him down over concerns with his statistical output.

The Senegalese has since proved his worth in the English top flight, and at 24, with his best years ahead of him, Klopp could see him as an ideal player to mould within his system.

Shocking! He played in Austria...you think Klopp knew about him before Southampton?  ;)

What I like about Mane is that he is a different option to what we have in Phil, Lallana and Bobby.

The fact that he's also a very good footballer, and dare I say it, proven in this country is a bonus.

The lack of commitment from Mario Gƶtze to making a move to Merseyside has been duly noted by Liverpool. #lfc (Chris Bascombe)

However with United & Tottenham also keen on ManĆ© it would require all Kloppā€™s powers of persuasion to lure him to Anfield. (Chris Bascombe)

JĆ¼rgen Klopp is a huge admirer of  Sadio ManĆ©, who excelled in both fixtures against the Merseyside club last season. #lfc (Chris Bascombe)

So are we flirting with someone else to get the attention of Mario or are we truly moving on, I think it's the latter. Drinkwater and Mane now that would really put the cat among the pigeons. :lmao:

Agreed Si, to me it looks like one of the options we were all saying we simply didn't have this season. Although if the lads who claim he's just too inconsistent are true then it's less of a plus. That pace and an end product, I thought that's a recipe quite a few of us were suggesting we go out and buy.

Apparently there's strong interest from Spurs and the Scum too.

I blame it on spending so many years with my girlfriend. She was bound to rub off on me one day.

For context she once asked me why we couldn't go up in a helicopter, hover and wait for Australia to come to us.

      No sh*t.
