I'm not sure anymore, I'm just underwhelmed with this signing.

Fair enough he may not seem like the most inspiring signing but if as seems likely Klopp has identified him to plug our glaring lack of pace in midfield then that's cool by me.

Let's all just wait and see how it pans out over the season and look forward to an exciting season rather than doom and gloom before a ball is kicked.

I can't help but feel disappointed by this signing.

Feel sorry for players like Mane.  Clearly not worth 30m but will always be judged as a 30m player now.  Even if he puts in half decent performances for us, he will always get criticised because of his price tag. For that sort of money you expect top quality.

A fair price would have been half of that.

I can say with confidence that Mane will never go down as an amazing signing by the club, but lets wait and see. I don't want to put a downer on things for those who are excited by this signing.

For me though, I can't help but sit here and scratch my head wondering when the club will f**king learn not to overspend on average premiership players from average premiership clubs.

Saints paid £12 million for Mane two seasons ago.

He has been their best attacking player for two seasons why would they sell him for only £15 million?

I liked Mane when Brendan was still manager.

Would have been happy either way.

It's not like we're signing Rickie Lambert.

Why couldn't we fork out 30m for Teixera who is a better player than Mane?

he hasn't kicked a ball for us in anger but its good to know he will be supported by everyone. The fee is irrelevant ever since Torres went for £50mil and we bought Andy Carroll for £35mil the market has been nuts.what we should have done is buy Southampton about 5 years ago it would have saved us a fortune.
I will wait and see how our squad looks in August and isn't everyone sick of being negative we have done that now for about 9 years and I am all NEGGED out.

Why would there be uproar when the player clearly fits how we play, both now and under Brendan, and brings exactly what our attack is missing?  Pace, power, aggression and goals.

We looked at him 2 seasons ago before he went to Saints but somebody at the Club pulled the plug on the deal, the player himself confirmed this earlier this year. 

We get it mate, you don't rate him/think he's too expensive etc etc but don't try justifying our excitement as hypocrisy because he's arrived under Jürgen.

Give him a chance. The fee is irrelevent if Klopp wants him.

Of course they have. They always seem to go with the highest reported fee when it comes to us buying players.

and now even BBC is reporting £34m which could rise to £36m ,while the saints were asking £40m
while the echo (which I tend to believe more) saying its a £30m deal

I like him, certainly gave us some problems when he came on at half-time and our turned a game in which we were very comfortable completely on its head.

He has the attributes we need out wide, can play right or left or in the 10 shirt. He's quick, skilful, scores goals and they all work hard in that Saints side so what's not to like? I think it's a good piece of business.

I don't care whether Mane is worth 30 mil or 300 mil, in recent years we have spent a ship load on dross that comes to nothing and as long as he comes good who cares, instead of spending the same amount on a busload of players that eventually got loaned or shipped out. Mane is the first sign of what Klopp profile of players he's looking for. There are many more Mane's like players that Klopp will be buying in future and those softies in the squad better toughen up and run many times faster otherwise when the required players comes in gradually they'll have no place in the squad.

It's not like we're signing Rickie Lambert.

Or Steven Caulker although... to be fair (and the posts are there for all to see) no one actually complained when Brendan signed Rickie.

Who cares what we pay, its not our money directly. Who cares where he came from, had it of been from mainz or the likes would you be more excited?

I'm made up, Jürgen wants him so I do too. My only gripe about the 30 million quid fee is that it's likely to be the only 30 million quid transfer we'll do this Summer (unless we sell one for that much). I'd like to buy four of the buggers, starting with a top class left back, then a goal scoring box to box midfielder.

34mill is a chunk of change for someone who has blown hot and cold in the PL.
Am ONLY hopeful cause it's Jürgen doing the buying.
When Benteke signed 32mill was a lot of cash (for us) but thought if he works out, will be money well spent. Problem for BR was it turned out to be money pissed up against a wall, and he left with Benteke shaped nails in his coffin.
Really hope the signings this summer kick us on (and the TC plan is not just to keep signing Southampton players until one hits paydirt)
