Liverpool want to bring back Pepe Reina

Liverpool are lining up a sensational swoop for bring former goalkeeper Pepe Reina back to Anfield, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Reina has reportedly become one of Jürgen Klopp's transfer targets as he wants to bring in ANOTHER goalkeeper as part of his squad overhaul.

The Spaniard, who represented Liverpool between 2005 and 2013, could be available for cheap this summer after a two-year stint at Napoli.

A move would leave the future of Simon Mignolet up in the air, given that Loris Karius has already signed for the Reds in a £4.7million move this summer.

He should never have left in the first place. I really hope this happens but I'm not sure it will.

I am trying not to get my hopes up .But I think Jürgen would appreciate his enthusiasm especially in goal celebrating.

Bold move. Not sure how Pepe fared last season at Napoli. I will be surprised if he considers this as he gets to play CL with Napoli this season.

If it happens, he will be replacing Migs as the #2. Talk about Karma!

didn't Napoli finish second?. He will get a lot more money here than in Italy  so CL isn't going to stop him

First choice keeper there with CL football... Not going to happen, but shows how wrong we got it letting him go.

His dad has come out and said something along the lines of "We're not aware of any interest from Barcelona or any other club. Everybody knows the love Reina has for Napoli".

Maybe we want to bring him as a goalkeeping coach.  xxxxx:action-smiley-065:

Joking aside, I would like to see him back, but doubt it will happen.

I'm seemingly in the minority on this but it's a massive no-no for me. He's about 6 years past his best, would demand huge wages and isn't an upgrade on Mignolet.

Pepe Reina’s father says there is nothing in Liverpool return rumours

Pepe Reina’s father Miguel Reina says there is nothing in rumours linking his son with a return to Liverpool, reports Corriere dello Sport.

Liverpool have already been busy improving their goalkeeping department this summer, with manager Jürgen Klopp adding Loris Karius to his ranks.

The German has arrived as competition to current number one Simon Mignolet, with the Belgian having come in for criticism again this past season.

It had been suggested that Klopp would not be stopping there though, with rumours suggesting he would make a move to bring former Liverpool goalkeeper Reina back to Anfield.

It seems a move will not be happening though, with his father saying there is nothing in the rumours.

“We do not talk about the market in the family, we are not aware of the interest of Barcelona or other teams," Corriere dello Sport reports him saying.

"Liverpool? There is nothing, just rumors. The great affection that Pepe has for the Napoli is known.”

Despite his father seemingly ruling out a move, signing Reina would be a smart move for Liverpool.

More than anything he would provide vast experience to the current squad, which is arguably lacking in that department.

He would also provided decent cover for Karius if he is to be number one next year, and could allow them to move on Mignolet after a disappointing spell at Anfield.

I'll take a six years past his best Reina over an in his prime Mignolet any day.

Love how his dad is still trolling for Barca.

Get over it already, he's not going to Barca.

      Sheesh.

All that said, would be great to see him come back and battle for the #1 spot. Would make both men better (and Migs expendable).

Not too sure why he'd come back, We have a 1st team Goalkeeper, and back up, (you know which is which.)

Very Romantic and all that, but in the cold heart of day, it does not make much sense.
