Classic must see movies you may have missed.
      Jun 02, 2016 05:55:44 pm
As im 38 now, and have an almost 13 and almost 17 year old boys that are always looking for movies to watch, I frequently find myself being asked for suggestions.
There has been a lot of films I've enjoyed growing up, and its likely that some of our younger members will not have heard of a lot of them, and will have missed some cracking shows.
One which instantly springs to mind is My cousin Vinny. Literally one of the funniest shows of all time.

In this scene Vinny a lawyer and cousin of one of the prisoners ( the one sleeping) meets his clients in their cell. The guy thinks it is the prison "Mr Big" thats "in with the warden, coming to rape them, absolutely brilliant scene!

They're at the age where they can begin to watch "Good" film.

Godfather is a staple. Should be watched. I would also recommend Goodfellas and Casino for your 17 yr old. But not for the 13 yr old. Not yet.

      Big Lebowski
      Caddyshack
      Blues Brothers
      Monty Python- Holy Grail
Star Wars ep 4,5,6 skip the sh*t ones.
      Thats a no brainer.

Star Trek-First Contact. Best ST movie and just a great movie.

Nephew is four and has already watched all the Star Wars films, loves the originals, but for some reason absolutely loves Revenge of the Sith and in particular where Anakin gets done in by Obi Wan then becomes Darth Vader.

Also been happily introducing him to films I loved as a kid, in particular the Indiana Jones movies. Me and him sat Friday and yesterday watching Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Temple of Doom while I was babysitting him.

Yeah liked that show, apart from the sh*t monster part. Can't go wrong with Jay and silent Bob.

17 year old saw the original star wars movies when he was 5, got crazy obsessed with it, used to drive the teachers mad.

I do use my kids as an excess to watch some old movies, My 13 year old loves the original Ghostbusters films.

I'm shocking with movies, so many I haven't watched that I've heard so much about. Now I've got a movie streaming stick I've been making the effort to watch a couple of classic films a week.

Watched The Departed the other night with Matt Damon, Leo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg et al, absolutely brilliant, a must watch if you haven't seen it.

Casablanca, Lawrence of Arabia, School for Scoundrels (1960, not the 2006 sh*te), Brilliant films in my opinion.

Another film I really enjoy is Strange Bedfellows, 2004, an Aussie film never shown over here.

It's a funny age is 13, so i'd suggest films like:

      Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
      Bedknobs and Broomsticks
      Mary Poppins
      101 Dalmatians
      The Sound of Music
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

I use my 4 year old as an excuse to watch any movie.

Watched all the Transformers the other day.

Get the Christopher Reeves Superman films on.

Going off big time. Decent scouse film.

Never seen that but have been told that it's even better than Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Staying on the Paul Newman theme - Cool Hand Luke. Great film that quite a few haven't seen.

You certainly need to add 'The Sting' too your must watch list, brilliant film & a brilliant cast with  Robert shaw stealing the show just avoid the sequal which was awful & yes I would say it's better than butch Cassidy & the sundance kid & I do remember cool hand Luke putting me off eggs for quite some time after first watching it,
The late great Paul Newman being one of my favourite actors.
