Selling him for 30m will be a struggle.

Not because I think he's sh*te but the whole world does know we want to move him on so it could be tough to get that much back.

Palace showed their hand bidding £30m for Batshuyai, also. We all know they have the money.

Mirror - Benteke would consider a move if either of West Ham or Palace meet the asking price.

Don't be ridiculous.... Every top team makes poor transfers.

Utd - Bebe, Anderson, Djemba-Djemba, etc.

Chelsea - Torres, Shevchenko, Del Horno, Mutu, etc.

City - Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Robinho, etc.

      The list goes on....
No disputing that harry - sh*t happens although... those three teams tend to dust themselves off (after such a signing) and go again.

I guess that lack of fear is why they have practically monopolised the league title in recent years.

The thing is; although there's more financial risk, if they succeed, winning  titles and the exposure that offers, tend to bring enough in increased (global) support, revenue and income to perpetuate more signings and more success.

I'm only guessing but I reckon Chelsea sold more Shevchenko tops than we sold Aspas and... we sold more Benteke than Borini. :P

Mossie, the fact is there are very few strikers available out there in the market today; the fact that the Mancs are going to pay 300k/week to Ibrahimovic who will be 35 years of age in October and has never played in the PL tells you something. Benteke is in his prime and in the right set-up is a 1/2 striker, with today's TV money £30 million is not exactly blackmail.

I think we hold all the chips on this one and towards the end of the window when the panic sets in we can take advantage which in fact is something we seldom do.

He is not going to leave with out the gaffers consent and Jürgen is no mug so hopefully we can start doing smart business from here on out unlike our normal buy/sell at a loss or buy/loan out pay wages scenarios that we have become so proficient at.

Do we really have that much of an upper hand, though? I think you're forgetting that one of the negotiating parties here is Liverpool Football Club.

We are clearly looking to sell and Benteke's value dropped from our £32.5m valuation the year before. He had a poor year and was hardly played by Jürgen, who obviously (and rightly) favors Sturridge and Origi ahead of him. We also have Ings coming back from injury and one less competition to play do to our gross incompetence in the league. Jürgen also showed he's willing to play Firmino as a striker ahead of Benteke. £25-30m would be a good get.

Yes I do when you see the numbers being tossed out and some of those rejected bids its easy to see the leagues gone crazy with money.

There are very few strikers on the move this year from a very short supply...If played in the right system you have a 6'3" 25 year old 1 in 2 Belgian international striker that even while getting minimal match time last year managed to net 10 goals.

Think we are totally in the drivers seat and according to the manager nobody is coming or leaving until he gives the word so I doubt were going to play the mug too much anymore.

Actually BBB, if Studge (stays healthy), Origi (continues to progress) Ings (comes back and plays like we think) we are sitting pretty decent in the striker department.

That being said that powerful 2 letter work "If" looms large.

As of right now we have too many strikers so the issue of not having enough should be non-existent for the minute. There's no guarantee we'll be able to off-load Balotelli and Benteke may even stay yet if somebody doesn't offer what we're after.

So we don't need him... Best keep that quiet then in case other teams realise we are looking rid and it drives the price down  :P; just like it always has before.

You'll read this, on here, often enough "We can get better for that money." well... surely the same holds true for other clubs? You can run the risk of pricing yourself out of the market - which is a good thing if you don't want rid but bad if you do.

I'm sure we will get a decent offer for a well regarded striker and with the truth being that the club only need £26m (to show no loss, on the books); chances are the club will accept less than some might expect.

I suppose we will know in the next few months, with Higuain & Cavani out there as far as "names" go...after that we are in the Remy, Cisse class; really not a lot of strikers out there to be had so whether it be £25m or £30m we will not be taking too much of a beating on Christian.

Yeeha... '£25m to £30m a good get'/ 'we only need £26m to break even'/'£25m or £30m we will not be taking too much of a beating' = consensus in an LFC Reds thread; who'da thunk it?

Hahaha wishful thinking that mate. I just wonder what Jürgen's response will be to him arriving at Melwood.

If he does end up moving then I wish him all the best. Sadly we had a habit of buying strikers that don't fit a certain style. I'm glad we bought him or else Villa might still be in the league :D

Certainly a positive out of it mate. Hopefully Jürgen is given the full funds + wages to go out and buy someone else too, £30m + let's guess at around £80k (can see us paying a portion of it) buys you quite a bit these days, or not in case of Troy Deeney.

Liverpool's Christian Benteke verbally agrees terms with Crystal Palace: £30m fee wanted

CHRISTIAN BENTEKE is edging towards the exit door at Liverpool after reportedly agreeing personal terms with Crystal Palace.

The striker failed to shine in his debut season at Anfield after arriving from Aston Villa for £32.5million.

Express Sport understands the Reds want to recoup £30m for their Belgium international this summer.

And it now appears only a fee needs to be agreed with Palace after Benteke held positive talks with the Eagles, according to the Daily Mail.

Alan Pardew has been keen to bring in a top-class goalscorer, having made an attempt to sign Michy Batshuayi from Marseille.

But their £31m move for Benteke's Belgium team-mate at Euro 2016 was stumped by Chelsea as the Blues close in instead.

However, with Jürgen Klopp keen to offload 25-year-old Benteke, Palace are getting nearer having reportedly held discussions with his representatives this week where terms were verbally agreed.

It remains to be seen whether Palace will meet Liverpool's asking price but they are said to be intent on getting a deal done.

So this will basically cover the Mane fee and with another couple of out goings we will end up with a net spend of zero again!!!!!
