Is this the worst Brazil side ever?

Not even sure their midfield is better than Uruguay's or Argentina's.

One thing sticks out to me is the lack of quality attacking full-backs. Think of the players they had in those positions from 00's to 10's with likes of Cafu, Maicon, Roberto Carlos, Marcelo and Dani Alves. Brazil midfield they played , individually are great players but as a unit they were painful to watch and did very little.

Yes the fullbacks are noticeable but goalkeeper aside that could be said about the whole team. Who even is their main striker? Jesus and Richarlison?

It seems Brazil suffer the same problems as the England NT then  :lmao:

Interesting question in that it's a tag which a lot of the so called big international teams are now labeled. Worst Holland, worst England, worst Italy, France, Germany, Portugal or even Spain. It would seem on face value to be down to how International teams are set up and coached, or how long the players get to understand each others game etc. There aren't really Nations of exceptional talent, and the majority of the top ranked players excel by playing in a handful of teams made up of multi-nationals....basically they look good playing next to other great players.

I think it is possible for the overall level of quality to fluctuate over time and think in many cases that level isn't what it once was  Nobody can seriously compare the current Brazil (or Italy or Netherlands etc) sides with those of years gone by. A well-coached team is always going to benefit from having an enlarged pool of available quality.

I would certainly use the phrase to describe Italy and Spain. Definitely not about England, France or Portugal and on the fence with Germany and the Netherlands, the quantity of top quality talent for sure has taken a hit but there's still enough there mixed with experienced pro's to witness a competitive, free flowing game we can be excited for even if the mindsets of these players contrast from playing league football week in week out to playing knockout football.

Individual wise the Vinius Jr and Rodrygo are great attackers. Bruno G and Paqueta talented midfielders. Just seems don't seem to bring it for the NT.

Often think nostalgia plays a part in his people view previous national teams or views on quality of football played in previous tournaments. More likely for me it is the combination top quality players being spread out from all over the world while club football the amount of top teams being concentrated which results in top club sides who superior to international teams.

Argentina won 2-0 and go through to the Final (Monday at 1am). Mac Allister played 78 minutes before being subbed, played well, with some quality early runs into the box (though often ignored by teammates looking to play in Messi).

Canada played well, had a few decent chances throughout, especially some good play early on which opened up Argentina - but lacked that final killer pass or touch.

Colombia vs Uruguay in the other semi-final at 1am 'tonight' should be a quality and eventful match...

Argentia didn't play as open as the first game. They didn't create nearly as many chances though they gave up a lot fewer (we had good spell in the opening 15 minutes and last 10 minutes though they were sitting back letting us attack). If we were to have any chance of a result we needed to be clinical and they needed to be wasteful in attack but it ended up being the opposite as we missed a couple and they score with their first attempt on target.

15mins away. Gotta wake up in roughly 6hrs but we’ll try get through as much if the game as possible  :o

      Good luck to both.

Munoz was a real good pick up by Palace, looks real good. Good wing play by Diaz to dig the cross out on his weaker foot, Some leap by Munoz to head just wide.

Ah Nunez 😀, great first touch…shot inches past the post.

Darwin 3 misses so far and a volley into space hahahahahahah I love him.

Seems a good idea not to have 30 minutes of injury time in the knockout stages (bar the Final) - save the players' legs, keep freshness, easier recovery... and go straight to penalties (especially after another crammed full season).

The Final itself is 1am kick off on Monday morning (Colombia vs Argentina) - live on Premier Sports in the UK.

It will be the first time the Copa America has ever had a 'half-time show'... this one will feature Shakira - and half-time has been lengthened from the usual 15 minutes to 25 minutes - just for that half-time show.

Could been seen as a slight to Argentina, Shakira is Colombian!!

Anyway half time shows want F***ing off, especially after seeing Atomic Kitten on the Anfield pitch during half time.

Reminds me back when the US organisers/TV execs wanted footy to go 4 25 minute periods so they could have more adverts for the 1994 World Cup. Thankfully back then FIFA told them to f*** off... now Infantino and the other sociopaths running the footy confederations would probably go for it - depending on the size of  kickback/bribe.

      They're now aiming for a 1.45am kick off - https://x.com/gastonedul/status/1812641475504595232

Around 1.15am: 'NOW: TOTAL OUT OF CONTROL AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE COPA AMERICA FINAL STADIUM. The entrances are collapsed.' (google translated)

      https://x.com/TyCSports/status/1812642439338893770

      According to the Guardian...

'Jenny Taft, who has done some outstanding sideline reporting tonight, says players have been dealing with family members stuck outside. They’re not happy.'

Edit: Now there is a new kick off time of 2.15am...
