That the current iPhone is very inferior to the current Blackberry Storm model.  ;)

I go on this site called macrumours now and then which has news on all sorts of apple stuff and it's pretty much confirmed that apple will unvail a new iphone on June 8th at the WWDC thingy. Various reports from apple show that they will be unvailing it soon.

Ok, thanks. Looking forward to June 6th then.

Especially as my contract runes out very soon.

Probably going to be unveiling a new iPhone but to be fair the new software update, also due in June, for existing iPhones is going to solve pretty much all the annoying problems with the existing iPhone.

The only things that can be improved are the camera MP's, video recording and maybe memory size?  Is that worth shelling out for?

I've got a digital camera so I wouldn't dream of relying on a mobile camera anyway.  And I'm a bit too old to shoot home made porn so I don't use the video recording thing.

I'm only just in to my contract but I couldn't imagine what would really make me feel like I had missed out by not waiting?

The only reason i want them to bring a new iphone out in june is so o2 offer me to cancel my current contract (with the iphone 3g that i left in a taxi) and take out a new contract with the new iphone. Last time updating from the 1st iphone to the 3g just cost the price of the new handset which was £99. The new one is supposed to be even cheaper (I've heard $99)

Since i had my first iphone robbed and the 2nd one i lost, i think it's probably a good idea to get the next one insured.
Insurance with o2 or the carphone warehouse  is £10-12 a month which i think is ridiculous so...
i googled "iphone insurance" and found a site called www.iphoneinsurancecover.co.uk
Says it will give iphone insurance for £4.41 a month but is it a legitimate site. It looks slightly dodgy to me.
When you google "iphone insurance" there seem to be quite a few other sites that do it too but to be honest i never knew that you could get your iphone insured with someone other than o2 or carphone warehouse.
Anyone got a bit more experience or knowledge about this?

That site looked dodgy as F**k. Especially when you go to close the window. Dodgy dodgy dodgy.

Can you not add it on to your home insurance? I'm sure that would be cheaper.

I must admit mine isn't insured - I think mobile phone insurance is a big con on the whole and the prices are ridiculous.  I'm generally pretty careful with my mobiles - obviously there is a chance of it getting nicked but I'm unlikely to lose it.

Ally, why don't you check with 'Apple' ?  Surely they must do some sort of cover.

As JD states, it would probably be better getting it added to your home insurance and cheaper.

      Thanks for the advice.
Probably best to check with apple and my home insurance as those sites do look pretty dodgy.

I think MMS and Video are expected features on all phones so that addition is late, but very welcome.

I think the little extras are all good, but they should have really got the vitals in first and then added the snazzy bits. Saying that, they're still making millions and I still want one.

Have to wait until November before I can get one. Hopefully it'll be this one.

P.S. It looks amazing but I'll only be impressed if that Voice Control can understand Scouse. :D

I've always said the iPhone was only a few features short to becoming a world class gadget.  A bit like us then isn't it?  ;)

I know I've slagged the iPhone off here and there the past 24 months, but they have fu**ed around with increasing profits by bringing out two models with basically no common sense on it.

The new 3GS, should be the dominatrix of the smartphone range, going to be looking round for some reviews and comparisons to the Blackberry Storm, which is way superior to the current 3G model.  I'm just wondering does it measure up to the heights of the Storm, or does it climb higher?

19th of June.  Expect a full sell out.

      :lmao:

Was thinking that meself TBH!  It's alright some cheesy American fella come on and go about it with his own accent like.  But imagine us?  I have trouble trying to talk to that Brain Training game on the DS when you have to do that colour game!  It never recognises what I'm saying!

Me: Er.  Gis' a good tune der la.

You can find all of the specifications here >> http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html

The only thing I'm disappointed with is the camera.  Its been upgraded by 1MP, which now only makes it a 3 mega pixel camera.  The Blackberry Storm has a 3.2MP.  It's basically the same, but with all the leading phones increasing to 5MP - 8MP camera, it's fallen behind straight away, making us wonder when the next upgrade will be after this current one!

Let's hope the voice control & video function does itself some justice.  If you're one of the lucky people in the UK that get your hands on one, please don't hesitate to air your opinions on the newest handset!

Most of the improvements are in the operating system.  So current iPhone 3G users will be able to take all the battery life/speed enhancements from that.

MMS is also coming to the existing iPhone via the software update.

It will all happen on the 17th June.

So what has the new iPhone got that the current one hasn't?

A 3MP camera over a 2MP camera? Big wow.  To be honest even 5MP cameraphones are sh*te when placed next to a small digital camera so I will stick with my camera anyway.  Same goes for video.  Not something I use on a phone - and if I did want to video things I would again use a digital camera which are far better and a similar size.

What else has the new iPhone 3GS got? An in-built magnetometer. sh*t - great - just what I wanted!

I was a bit worried when I heard the new phone was coming out because I haven't long had my iPhone but now - to be honest - I'm fairly pleased that I will be getting most of the upgraded features for free next week and won't have to shell out extra for the new version.

      Just my opinion mind.

(Oh and it's still better than a Blackberry by the way. Court, I thought you had learned your lesson after having an Xbox 360?) ;)
