I find it quite embarrassing how ridiculously bitter some people are towards Ronaldo. I'm no big fan of the man either, but some people on here take things to an Evertonian level of bitterness. He's a legend, one of the greatest players in the history of the game and a real leader to this team. Congratulations to Portugal.

he is a gobs***e a manufactured player who is all about Ronaldo not fit to clean the boots of Messi .

Like you I'm not his biggest fan but I'm not particularly bitter about him either.  Although I can understand why people don't like him.  He is at the WWE showbiz end of what some people, wrongly, still consider a working mans game.

i have finally seen my Portugal lift a trophy

this little beauty came true hahahahaha

The only other time Wales made a tournament was 1958 World Cup
They were eliminated by Brazil 1-0 in the quarter final, a goal by Pele. Brazil went to the final and defeated the host nation Sweden to win its first world cup title. 8 years before they lost their first final on home soil to Uruguay.
fast forward to 2016 Euro Cup
Wales eliminated in the semi finals by Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo scores. Portugal goes to the final to face the host nation france. 12 years before Portugal lost its first european cup final on home soil to Greece.
Brazil the only team to lose a WC final on home soil (until Sweden lost to Brazil in 1958), Portugal only team to lose a Euro cup final on home soil.
The last time GERMANY lost to a home nation in a semi final was also the 1958 WC
      Wales the good luck charm

get in Champions Champions Champions hater will always hate

You have to remember, my friend. We don't hate Portugal, we just don't like certain players and don't like to see them succeed :p

Anyway, congrats on the win!!!! Jealous as F**k... if only we could have beaten you in the Semis!

Its not about Ronaldo. I thought it was a bit foolish him in the technical area trying to look like he was directing traffic. However, those types of antics are seen for what they are. Congratulations to Portugal, a long time to wait. I could not stand Pepe but I am warming to him. He is very passionate about his team and he gives everything. Similar to Ricardo Carvalho. Couldn't stand him at Chelsea but good player and passionate. I think Ronaldo's self obsession is something aside from the game. It's not a good look but as I don't see footballers as role models, I think its a personal issue for him. If he doesn't care well then no one cares really. His team mates hoisted the manager on their shoulders that speak volumes.

France didn't have enough quality really. They were combative etc, but there just wasn't enough craft, probably fitting of Deschamp's really. Don't get me wrong France could have won but I don't think it was particularly good French team. To play Pogba as holding midfielder because of his physicality is not a good move. However, small margins decide these games. Well done to Portugal.

      Why?

France were poor on the night.

Sissoko and Griezmann played  well but the rest of the team didn't function well.

The better team won on the night because Portugal played better as a team.

Referring to the tournament as a whole.

Portugal.. 3rd placed finishers.. but through as one of the best of the losers.

      What an achievement. ha!
