I'd rather have Gini.  I know what we get.  Alacantra looks good but can he do his stuff here in the premiership?

Well the last time it was the premiership he was 16 so he might have been a bit lightweight

OK so he knows what he is getting himself into. That would be a plus.   I'd rather keep Gini given the choice but it is getting late in the day for a new contract lets see how this story folds after tomorrow's final.

Absolute dickhead comment. Tiago without playing in this country already looks a better tackler of the ball than Gini.

Why call him a dickhead and why sell our Gini so short for?

Becaise if you've ever seen our games turn into a battle, Gini goes missing. Great passer of the ball no doubt but defo has an aversion to throwing a challange in.

Very noticeable he started in what could be considered the b-team after half time!

He is a top player, already at a top club. Why would he want a move ?

That is up to Georginio although in my view, he would be making a mistake to leave !

you asked the question why would he want to leave, I pointed out he still hasn't signed an extension to his contract, indicating that there may well be a reason why he wants to leave, unless he's a greedy sod, which I doubt.

Why do you always make out it’s about money..?

Gini has won all the major trophies except the 2 domestic cups.. maybe he wants a fresh challenge or maybe he wants a longer contract that’s being offered..

I hope he stays with us to retain the PLT.

Sorry but what part of "unless he's a greedy sod, which I doubt." triggered you? I am saying a potential reason for him wanting to leave could be money but that I DOUBT it, ie I do NOT think that Gini is greedy.

Initial offer was for a 3 year extension - Gini wants a 4 year extension. It will be sorted out In negotiations

Personally I think 4 years is fine - he is super fit, never injured. His game is not based on pace, I really believe he will add quality even at 33.

I'd give him that but I have a feeling he's going to leave.

Just a gut feeling and think for once there's a bit more to this and the Thiago speculation than normally would be the case.

I’m starting to think there maybe a case for it but then I see his Social media activity even now and he is loving it all - still hopefully that he resigns and we use any money on a forward

Maybe the club isn’t offering him a deal that he thinks is reasonable. Maybe they think they can improve upon him. Maybe he wants to be a piece in the rebuilding of Barca under Koeman. Maybe he likes eating a late supper and the climate in Barcelona. Who knows.

I've said it before on here. We are a great club to play for but there is still a pull from the likes of Barca for some players no matter the current state of both clubs on comparison.

You can easily make a case for Gini wanting to try Spain and play for what is still considered one of the World's top clubs.

You can equally as easy make a case as to why he would want to leave us right now.

To be fair that was explained by The Boss. He said the only reason he played in the second half was because Jordan wasn't available and he played Gini in the Number 6 position because if Fab gets injured, only Jordan knows that role. He wants Gini to learn it may translate to Gini not going nowhere!
