Hinch put in a performance that words can not describe!

Ridiculous performances throughout the competition, 7 wins, 1 draw (win on penalties) against a number of teams ranked higher than us in the world. Congrats girls!

There's too much logic applied to that idea mate. What do you mean by the last comment? You're unhappy with their performances or you're unhappy about people's negative reactions to the track and field athletes?

they big up the Athletics and it never delivers. Mo Farah is the only truly world class athlete.  In Track Cycling if you don't move to Manchester your not in the team and just look at the results. they live together and train together and they continue to improve.
Diving has done fantastic and Swimming has improved 14 sports have won medals so Athletics needs to be seen in the context of the success of other Sports and funded accordingly.

      I agree with you fully.

I'm so happy for those involved in swimming, diving, gymnastics, rowing, canoeing etc. who either had funding cuts and had to win it back again or they've had more money pumped into it and they've dealt with the pressure of having to deliver medals consistently.

Athletics puts you on the map. No one gives a rats arse about rowing and canoeing when it comes to exposure and sponsorship.

Which is idiotic, of course. Fund successful athletes and force other people to earn their cheque.

funding here is from the Lottery and is awarded on performance at major championships so I don't know how Athletics survives in this country.

I guess we'll have to see how well the athletics stars start doing in the next couple of years. Adam Gemili (22), Cindy Ofili (22), Morgan Lake (19), Sophie Hitchon (25), Katarina Johnson-Thompson (23), Charlie Grice (22), Jazmin Sawyers (22), Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (22), Dina Asher-Smith (20), Bianca Williams (22), Holly Bradshaw (24) etc. They're all young still but some of them are barely heard of even though they've made finals and it's because they rarely win medals in those finals.

I guess much of the disappointment stems from the fact that Britain used to have an excellent array of talent in the athletics throughout the 80s and then into Barcelona in 1992.

Still, we're still lucky to live in the era of Mo Farah probably our greatest of all time.

Ok I may have missed it glancing through the overnight posts but just watched our girls smash it to take bronze in the sprint relay.

Great stuff girls, such a young quartet up against the mighty USA and Jamaica.

They've beat the national record 2 or 3 times this year as well. They're all quite young too (early 20's) so if they can stick together and get faster then it'll be great for British sprinting.

Posted it last week but Desiree Henry was one of the young athletes who lit the flame in London four years ago. Just 20 years old and hopefully lots more to come from her and her team mates!

She's mates with my nephews girlfriend who was so excited for her last week when she made the semi final of the 100mtrs.

Didn't realise she was Daleys pick at London though.
