Babel 8 - that back-flick was pure class.

Happy for the guy, this should do wonder for his confidence ...and will shut-up his doubters (e.g. me).

The cross bar stopped him from scoring the quickest hatrick in CL history, it could have been two records in one night.  But babels goal was brilliant thats two classy goals for him when including the derby goal.

It was a cl record our own record in europe is 11-0 it was in the cup winners cup, i think.

Yup,they matched Juve's record set in 2003 (dont remember the opposition...Olympiakos i think it was)

Right. lets have a look at some facts.
We won 8 - 0  in the Champ's League - this is a record score !!
Yossi scored a hat trick - Look at his thread - shame on you all stating he's only a League Cup player !!!
Babel scored 2 & could of had a hat trick
We had a rotated team - it worked (thank God !)

The only disappointing thing was - it was NOT a sell out !
There were seats scattered around the ground unsold. Yes I can accept people not making the game, but why have certain sections of unsold seats?
Is it because we were due to be knocked out of the competition, and people don't want restricted view seats ?
My bet is that these people want to be first in the queue for the final tickets !!

Suberb game, suberb football, suberb goals, but shame on those who didn't want to watch this game - when you had a chance.

Babel's first was from football heaven, Gerrards goal (albiet a deflection) - the set up to it was just perfect football.

Tonight we had belief, we had the courage to attack for 90mins.
We got the end result - WELL DONE RED MEN.

We had the live chat on for the game hence the lack of posts in this thread - and we have had 0 doom and gloom merchants.  Says a lot that some people haven't posted tonight of all nights!

Well I thought I left it too late to get a ticket.

I think we are suffering with a problem from people buying the tickets in anticipation of us 'getting to a final'.  We sold out of our allocation for Turkey and only about 400 went.  I think if a ticket is unused then that person should be recorded on the fancard somehow?

Anyway - we gave a proper European performance.  That's the most important thing.  Let's hope that all the ticket holders turn up for Porto.

JD, Arsenals 7-0 win two weeks ago took down the old Ch. League record; Man Utds win over Roma back in april.
The record before that was actually when my Rosenborg lost 7-2 for Paris SG in 2000......     ehehe...

Benayoun rules. It was not the three goals and two assists, it was the dominance on the right part of the pitch. It felt like every time he touches the ball something will happen. The same creativity JP is lacking... Every cross hit the target, every run came at the right time. Simply brilliant!

Did you guys see how he stopped that long ball before it went out of of play? That is magic my friends.

was expecting 4-0....but 8-0...wow...and the record too....really wished babel had his 3rd, we'd have 2 hatricks, he deserved it too....hope this makes him a shoe in as reserve striker just in case we get a good offer for any of out 3 strikers, and use the money for winger/defender

hopefully the momentum carries over to the fulham match, hope sisoko and kuyt stay on the bench, this was one of the reasons we had a good match, good passing and no balls given away cheaply. and loved how arbeloa & aurelio played high and wide, with mascherano my man of the match, really good performance..

too bad for the international break coming after that, spoils the flow we're having..
