Yet they are 12th in the world, not that FIFA rankings are without problems, but they can't be absolutely as bad as you are making them out to be.

I'll never understand your desperate need to give opinions on players and teams you clearly have never watched your life.

FIFA rankings are a joke. Peru last played a World Cup in 1982, and they don't have a single player at any UCL club. Their biggest star play for my club, Flamengo, and trust me, he's nothing special. Argentina have arguably the best player ever on their side, along with a lot of talent such as Dybala, Icardi, Di Maria, and many others.

If you still have any doubts that failing to beat Peru at the Bombonera and being 6th with only one game to go is bad, then ask any Argentinian how they feel about it.

I don't know if you follow the youth game in South America Diego but I remember listening to Tim Vickery on the BBC World Football Phone In a couple of years back and he said the future looked bleak for Argentina on account that their youth squads have no real noticeable prospects to get excited about. That was then so things might have changed for the better (I have no idea) but if Vickery's right and they miss out this year then they could be set to miss out on the World Cup after that as well. Seems their fortunes aren't too dissimilar from the Dutch.

I don't know that much about their youth teams to be honest but I don't think the situation is as bad as that.
You look at the Dutch current squad and it really does look bleak, without the kind of talent that we grew used to seeing play in orange.
But look at Argentina - it's a fantastic team, particularly in attack. Mascherano, Otamendi, Biglia, Banega, Dybala, Messi (!!!), Icardi, Di Maria, plus the likes of Aguero and Higuain in previous selections. If they fail to make it to the WC, it would be failure of epic proportions. A total lack of vision and continuity by AFA, with multiple changes in leadership, and some very questionable recent choices by someone I've always considered a top coach (Jorge Sampaoli) - keeping Dybala on the bench for the likes of Benedetto, Gómez, Rigoni against Peru, for example, I can't possibly understand that.

Iceland have nearly secured qualification to the World Cup. Amazing achievement.
All they need now is to beat Kosovo at home in the last round.

I would feel sorry for Messi... if he wasn't Argentinian.

For a team with hardly any players in Europe, you really like wavering around that no UCL players stat around, then you have the audacity to question my right to give an opinion. I have an opinion about you now, I am not going to say it either.

Well, at least you have actually read my posts. It would be refreshing to see you giving opinions on something you've actually seen just for a change.

"Why are you laughing at Argentina? Peru aren't that bad", says the guy who has never watched Peru in his life.

Van Dijk doesn't seem to be holding his position well and sloppy clearances for saying he's worth 60m.

I was looking at their lineup, and it doesn't look very inspiring.

Cillessen, Janmaat, van Dijk, Rekik, Blind, Wijnaldum, Vilhena, Robben, Propper, Babel, Janssen. And the options on the bench are not that great either: the alternative to Janssen is Bas Dost, a decent goalscorer but miles behind the likes of van Persie, Bergkamp and Kluivert that they used to have.

Out of the 11 starters, only Blind, Wijnaldum and Robben play for top clubs. Well, Cillessen does as well, but he hardly plays over there.

Personally I'll be sad to see them miss the World Cup. Always had a soft spot for the Dutch national team.

Scots only drew, made it interesting with the equaliser there in the last few mins tho, but sets it up for Wales/Ireland tomorrow night...

Runners up in this group are set to miss out on play offs anyway I heard.

Hard luck to Scotland. There was only one problem though...Gordon Strachan. If ever a manager deserved to be sacked on the basis of one game only it's that one.

With Scots only drawing, if Ireland win they can get a remaining playoff spot.
Which would be nothing short of a minor miracle.
Wales in the driving seat at home though..

Bale out injured is a massive loss. I think Ireland can pull it off. If Wales and Ireland draw, they will probably both be out... so this one is not going to be goalless.

Big loss, but they still went to Georgia and ground out 3 points, imho they have the edge in open play, but Ireland will be dangerous from set pieces...

Ben Woodburn can enjoy world cup from the sofa. Didn't have to be that way.... Not much of an international career with Wales.
